Vero Beach, FL Pool hall suggestions

That is immensely helpful, I quit smoking 14 months ago so I definitely prefer non-smoking establishments. $5 table rentals for the day is also insane, certainly the cheapest table rental I've ever heard of--it being at the best of the places makes it that much sweeter. Thanks, man!

Vero Beach, FL Pool hall suggestions

Hey folks, Headed to Vero Beach in a few weeks for a week, in between other things I plan to spend a decent amount of time shooting around. Google shows there's 3 or 4 halls down there, any of them I should avoid--or one that's really good that I would probably just want to stick to? Prefer...

    Derby City Classic questions

So, Before classes start back and I have no time to do anything for 4 months I wanted to drive out there and check out the matches for a night. Looks like casino lodge fees are higher than staying at an Embasy most places, so anyone famaliar with the area to reccomend someplace else to stay...

    Best budget production jump cue?

Good call, saw enough recommendations for J&J, found a natural colored one brand new for $34 with free shipping on Ebay. I suspect it will last me a lifetime, as I only jump once every 50 or so games. haha Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Gender test for any first place over $199......

I never understood the gender stipulations on pool in the first place. It's as pointless as Men and Women's Chess. In a game where the method of play neutralizes the physical difference in gender, why even care who has what sexual organs?

What kind of pool matches do people play where they get trophies?

They only count if I earn them, appreciate it though brother. Lol All mine are sports related but those days are gone, pool however, I can still play.

What kind of pool matches do people play where they get trophies?

I'm probably not going to have a chance at winning anything at 21 until I get a home table and get adequate time on running drills. The weekly tournament I've been playing in is starting to be easy money though, Id consider it extra income if it didn't just end up paying my bar tab. Haha It's...

    Best budget production jump cue?

Don't really want to spend a lot on it as I'll rarely use it but what kind of suggestions do you all have? Would prefer to spend less than $100 but if less than $100 won't buy a jump cue worth using I'm open to suggestions.

Have you ever known a player with almost zero natural talent to get good?

I don't know if this qualifies as 'good' but 4 or so months ago I could scarcely run two balls unless I just had some super easy shots. Now I'm playing and holding my own against people who end up in Vegas with their league every year and winning my local bar tournament pretty often. I'm getting...

What kind of pool matches do people play where they get trophies?

My new pool goal is, I want to win a trophy of some kind. I keep seeing them in people's home rooms in the post here. What type of competitions do you have to play in where they give trophies to people?

Does everyone here use a jump cue?

Yea, my break cue is juat an old play cue of mine. It's heavy because I used to like heavy cues, I'll probably have to change the tip eventually though where it's medium leather. But like you said, I use it so my play cue remains in good condition sans tip replacements.

Does everyone here use a jump cue?

Probably a poorly worded title, though my intentions weren't to imply anything negative or to stipulate that 'everyone' here uses a jump cue. I was merely trying to ascertain whether or not the consensus feels they're a necessary facet of the game. A few months ago I decided pool was no longer...

Meet the Team USA Captain: "My name is Johan Ruijsink"

Seems embarrassing that we had to turn to another country for talent. Why even have a team, then?

Does everyone here use a jump cue?

I don't really feel like I need one, I seem to do okay at jumping with my normal cue but if I'm missing out on something I would like to reconsider not getting one.

    Triangle tips are my favorite

I've really enjoyed having it and playing with it. I used a $150 Viking cue for years(which was a solid cue, although the tip left something to be desired) and the play and feel I get out of this Joss is just incomparable. The odd part is for as nice of cues as these seem to be, I very rarely...

    Triangle tips are my favorite

My Joss has a triangle tip. I greatly prefer it to the Kamui tip on my other playing cue, I seem to shoot better and get better English with the Joss.

    Head pool table mechanic wanted

I'm sure this isn't going to come as a shock to you but every job in every industry more or less asks for an absurd amount of education/experience these days. The guy will do what every other employer has to do, pick from the pool he's presented with and make due. Frankly I'm kind of shocked he...
