    dennis calling out anyone, 200k...

Yeah I knew about the problem with the soft break, just wondering about the specifics. They seem to change depending on the tournament director’s whim.

What are the breaking rules for these challenge matches? What is an illegal break?

    Jump cues?

I am noticing more tournaments banning the use of jump cues. What is the logic behind these restrictions? Are we seeing the death of the jump cue? It seems to me that tournament directors and house managers are just a bunch of control freaks. They freak out if they think they are losing control...

    Another rules question

I have a scoring question that I haven’t been able to answer from the rule book that I have, which I think is the latest. The shooter makes a ball and scratches. I think that he must spot the OB and subtract one point from his total score, not the score for the rack. If his total score is zero...

    No safeties in nine ball

I agree with Matt. Playing a successful safety against your opponent is so satisfying. And admiring one played against you is almost as satisfying. What I hate is playing against a hacker who slams the balls around the table trying to score the nine. I want play him if I can avoid him.

    One Foot On The Floor

I just saw the strangest thing that I have ever seen in a pro match. Fedor Gorst vs Alex Pagulayan in a One Pocket match. Gorst gets on the table to make a shot with both of his knees on the table and his feet hanging off the table three feet off the floor. No one said a word to him, not even...

    One pocket. What’s the play?

Purely defensive: thin off the 5 and bring whitey back to the foot rail. For a dual purpose shot (my preference), softly stun off the left side of the 5 to position it toward my pocket, leaving whitey against the 1 and 13.

Favorite way to practice position play.

Throw 5 or 6 balls onto table in random order and position, take CB in hand, then shoot every shot pocket speed with position for next numbered ball in mind. And repeat.

Why the rule against jump cues?

I have noticed that some tournaments are outlawing jump cues. Is to prevent possible equipment damage? Almost every pro has a jumper and can it use effectively, so it can't be a fairness call. So what is the reason?

    Thoughts on Lucasi Jump/Break Cue?

I have had my L-2000JC a little over two years. Within a couple hours of receiving it I was jumping with it, never having used a jumper before. For the price, I don't think I could beat it. My point is that if the JB is the same quality, then I think it is probably a keeper.

Which is better for a cue case - cloth dividers or oval holes ?

I have a 3 x 6 hard case with round holes which I like except that it doesn't have a lot of room for all of my stuff, so I am considering a soft case with more room and cloth dividers.
