    At the expo

This was our first year going. I felt like a child on Christmas morning. So many different vendors and not just pool cues. Even vendors that had nothing to do with pool. My son was hanging out at the Cuetec booth and my wife was working at the Onboard Sportswear booth. So I had a lot of...

    My 1 day expo review

Also playing along the wall. The players had no place to put their equipment. A lot of player leaned their pool cues on the fence. When somebody 3 or 4 tables away would move the fence everybody's pool cues would hit the floor.

    Quad Cities Rooms

I think so. They have in the past. Sharky's was sold to a new person and they were not pool fans. They bought the building for the bowling alley. Sharky's before it was sold had a league nights every week night and on friday and saturday nights there was usually a waiting list. The grill at...

    Quad Cities Rooms

I agree. We have had so many champions out of here. So much history here and we only have one pool hall. Thank you for asking about my son. He signed with Matchroom. He played at the McDermott Classic and made it to the final day and got some Mosconi points :). Now we are getting ready for...

    Quad Cities Rooms

I live in the Quad Cities. Leisure Time Billiards is the only real pool hall we have. Sharky's closed. there are a quite a few places that have more than one 7' table, they all drop quarters per game. If i knew which hotel you are at i could list bars that have multiple tables

What the pros do differently ...

When I watched my son play Fedor last year, it was all consistency. When my son played a shot the cue ball would be within of 1 to 6 inches of where he wanted. When Fedor played a shot he was within stopping right on a ball (for a safety) or in a very tight window for his next shot. The ball...

USA vs Europe: past, present, and future

I think it is funny that the US thinks that we should just be able to pick up a pool stick and practice "x" amount of hours and that is all it takes to be a pro. If a person does practice "x" amount of hours and is still not a pro then it is pool's fault. Pro football players, baseball...

USA vs Europe: past, present, and future

My son will read this post and it will drive him even more. He already practices about 4 hours Monday - Friday and plays in tournaments all weekend. He practices on a 9' table with 4" pockets (diamond from the US Open). It seems that Fargo is behind on a lot of junior players. We do not have...

    Mosconi cup times

Pool (snooker) is a big deal in other countries and companies buy commercial spots. This is what makes if "free" to the fans in that country. US can not sell enough commercial spots to make it free to the fans.

FargoRate: youngest players with highest ratings

I never really played to get a fargo and then some health issues stopped me from playing. I did run our junior programs for around 15 years. We had a blast and some real champions come through. My son learned from the other kids in the league. Josh Franklin, Blake Baker, River Burke and some...

FargoRate: youngest players with highest ratings

This was posted a year ago my son was a 676 and was 15 years old. This year in August my son was 16 and had a Fargo Rate of 713. They get better real quick.

America vs Rest of the World

3 people in your club over 650 and 4 in your city that are plus 700. out of how many pool players? Those people deserve the credit for how hard they worked to get that fargo. If you were to say to them it is not that hard to get to 700, i am sure they would tell you that it took them years of...

America vs Rest of the World

You dont think it is terribly difficult to get to 700???? How much fun does that even sound like for any teen???? practice 12 hours a day all summer and breaks from school??? Just like the pros do, they practice maybe 20 hours a week. If somebody wants it bad enough even if you have a full...

America vs Rest of the World

My point was that when SVB was in his prime, Germany (Filler), Russia (Gorst) and Spain (FSR) had some teens that were around the 700 Fargo Rate. League players dont just wake up and say i am now going to play like a 850 FR.
