Pechauer does make a phenolic joint in the JP series of their cues. I personally like the phenolic joints. Viking and Muecci also make a selection of cues with phenolic joints. :)

You didn't say whether you used the Talisman Pro or the Water Buffalo. I personally like the WB. Either way it will become harder as it breaks in, and it usually takes in a couple weeks of heavy use to break in. The new tips are tall and I normally reccomend taking the first two layers or so off...
