Why don't Snooker players use low deflection shafts?

Major League baseball uses only wooden bats, so the statistics won't be skewed by someone breaking the home run record with an aluminum bat. In professional snooker tournaments, you have to use a wooden cue, to keep traditional, wooden cue makers in business, who are sometimes sponsors, and...

What tips and chalk is everyone using?

I tried a friend's snooker cue, that was made by Mike Wooldridge. It sucked. I've used one piece, rack cues that pocketed more balls. He then got a BlackSpin ferrule put on, but it still sucked just as bad. He's trying to sell it, but he won't let anyone take a shot with it, because he knows...

    Best way to seal/finish cue?

I have only worked on my own cues, so probably about a dozen. In my limited experience, I have warped some of my cues with water. I tested the C. A. on a cheap piece of dowel because I don't want to warp any more of my cues. The dowel warped so i am not putting it on my cues.

    Best way to seal/finish cue?

How do you know that what I said isn't true? Did you see my cues? Water on a bare wood cue can even warp the thick butt end of a cue. I know because it happened to my cue.

10' Tables Future Of Pro Pool??

As far as televised events go, you don't have to show the boring frames. If a match takes two or three hours, you can edit it down to fit the time slot, leave in a few key misses to build the drama so it's not just one run-out after another. Suspense helps any sporting event.

10' Tables Future Of Pro Pool??

When there is no money in a sport at the highest levels, you have to try something different. Pool rooms can keep their 9 foot tables, but bring in 1 ten footer for those up for the challenge. Snooker is very popular in England with much higher prize money because it's harder . Mosconi said...

    Play of ferruleless shafts?

If the cue is carbon fiber that was designed without a ferrule, then you don't need a ferrule. Why pay for something you don't need. A wooden shaft , on the other hand is almost always made with a ferrule so the wood won't split. I have tried some wooden cues without a ferrule and they feel...

Steven Hendry states the most consecutive balls he's run

Doing the line up once a day with several attempts is a lot easier than doing it ten times in a row on a regular basis.

Steven Hendry states the most consecutive balls he's run

Doing it ten times in a row without missing a single ball is very difficult for anyone even a pro. Stephen did this on a regular basis. I think the most line ups I've ever done in a row was 3 and I only did it once in my life.

    Best way to seal/finish cue?

I tried CA glue on a piece of dowel and it warped badly. Also any finish that is water based will either cause warping, or in some cases, after it dries, the wood will expand from the water and burst the finish into something resembling curled strands. Water is bad for pool cues. Find something...

Making a cue to Snooker or UK Pool spec

Could you elaborate as to exactly what type of construction you are seeking? I am guessing you want a slimmer butt than an American pool cue. Do you want the join in the middle or 3/4 down the cue? Quick release joint? Do you want a brass ferrule or something else? Do you want a laminated shaft...
