Which is BEST cuecase? Whitten? Laara? Phi eastwood? Rusty Melton? Jill Hawk? Or?

For functionality as well as ruggedness, JB cases. The other cases that you mentioned are more along the lines of a custom cue with inlays rather than just a case.

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

Never mind the pros, I'm amazed at how many players of all levels are using carbon fiber shafts now. In just a few years it went from maybe 1 out of 10 to more like 8 out of 10 on your typical league night. The whole tradition and feel thinking is definitely not swaying most to not go with the...

    Ranking of Pool Fundamentals

Stance should be much higher, that's where your whole aiming line comes from and also how comfortable you are when shooting. I'm guessing by stance that means the overall alignment of your legs torso arm shoulder and head. I'm surprised that's not a 10 since standing incorrectly will make the...

    First time going to Q-Masters

Great to hear from you Brian, I'm still hoping for a trip to your area hopefully this year. As far as a review, the place is really well done, they have a ton of 7-ft tables, I'm not sure if they always had them or if that's a newer addition from all 9 footers. I got a bit lucky and got the...

    First time going to Q-Masters

I have a work trip to Norfolk this weekend for several days, my hotel is a few miles from Q Masters, always wanted to go there since it's so iconic to the US Open and probably pool in general. Is it still a pool vibe there or did it turn into a college kid and drug dealer hangout? Still exited...

    APA 9 Ball Races

I like the USAPL handicap system much better, you need to win the game to get the majority of the points. In the APA you can play 9 ball without much focus at the endgame and still win the match, even if you technically loose every game. Not good training for the "real world" of pool.

    Vietnam P3?

If they made German colors I would assume the rest of the world would hate them also based on this thinking. Are you boycotting tournaments with Vietnamese players in them?

    Fargo Ratings

Way before Fargo, when I learned to play pool, I have literally not played a single game on a 7-foot table till about 5 years into playing LOL. Every pool hall in the Boston area and suburbs had 9 footers back in the 80s and 90s.

    Expensive Cue Shooter

What's expensive? I know many players who think $300 is a lot to pay for a cue. My main cue is probably north of $2,000 and I always use it. Many players I see locally play with $1,000 cues and higher, as their normal cues. I don't travel with it though, I have a much cheaper set of cues I...

    Deleted.

Josey, the delicate script point details and diamond point tops are a dead giveaway.

    Anyone hear from Al Bautista

My son has been waiting for a cue from him for a while, and has been in touch sooner than a few years ago. However despite a lot of talk about the cue will be done soon, it seems he went into the too common cuemaker mode where nothing appears despite the promises and timelines given.

    Anyone recognize this squiggle logo?

I don't think it's for sale, someone had it for a while, said they got it in Louisville years ago.

    What would You do?

I think it depends on the team, but I have seen several times when someone is shooting at the wrong ball, there would be literally a chorus of players saying "Hey, hey, hey!" to try to stop them before they shot LOL. I think if it came from my oppenent's team I would not have the heart to call...

    Anyone recognize this squiggle logo?

Someone posted this on Reddit, definitely custom, looks like a house cue conversion. The "signature" is some hard to make out squiggle thing. Has a nice envelope leather case.

Another work trip, Norfolk and Miami.

Next up in my work/pool hall finding adventures is Norfolk on the 17th and Miami on the 23rd. Anyone around there wants to meet up to shoot or knows of fun places to go to? I am into cigars at times, and guessing Miami would be a good area for some places to find them. If there are any...

    Team Names Not Allowed

I am sure LOL I play with a black guy a lot, he is actually from an African country originally. I was trying to think of a nick-name for him and came up with "Afro Reyes". Another guy I met in TN would toss around the N word with us, to the point that me and a few other white guys were using...

TikTokker stealing YouTuber’s “Ron the Pool Student” short videos to post on TikTok

A ton of pool videos are re-used without permission. There are many who re-use AccuStats videos or Matchroom videos under their own accounts. Usually, people defend it saying, "we should not have to pay for pool matches". There is also someone, or a few of them, who takes diagrams out of...

    Rules question

It's a foul, it is up to the player to clear the pocket of balls if needed. A funny story about a similar situation that happened to me years ago at a tournament in a pool hall that was not very well maintained. They had leather pockets, and they were too low, so if you shoot at some tables at...

    Team Names Not Allowed

I don't know if it is true, but I have seen it floating around that when the Redskins changed their name/logo, an Indian tribe was upset because the logo was based on a real person and they though it represented the strength and fighting spirit of the people well.
