Travel to places, anyone around Chattanooga TN, Sumpter SC or Castleberry FL?

Have not had a chance to go play while there but planning on going there when I am back after New Year when the store will be opening. I played in the other states, and while in SC I ran into a guy who was in the same tournament as me in GA LOL.

Who is the best player of the last 40 years not to win a major event?

Didn't he win an 8 ball event over Efren in the finals?

    BCAPL 9 Ball Break.....

That is actually a rule that is out there, not hitting the 1 on the break is a foul. BCA uses the WPA rules I am pretty sure, the only special rules for the break outside of the standard rules of play is that you have to break from behind the line, 4 balls need to hit a rail, and the new one...

Anyone know the maker who would have made this pool cue? Never saw this identification logo. Thanks

That W looks almost home applied, not from a factory. It's off center and a bit clunky looking. If the pin is a 5/16 x 18 I would go with "cheaper store cue".

    JOSS ID

It's a standard Joss, serial number means it's around 2000s or older. Probably $300 used value if no issues and the buyer values USA made stuff. By "standard" I mean it's not a special limited or desirable model, so value is the same as others with the same amount of work.

    Magic rack for 8 ball

Cheap copies of the "Magic Rack" can be crappy. Many models are also specific to how you orient them since the diamond cut-outs are oriented differently. Another issue may be old, cheap, worn out balls or the table has divots in areas causing the balls to try to roll off. On some tables I...

    Tap league rules question

Soft Breaks may be a judgement call, and if not in the national league rules, the local TAP area may have their own rules about them.

    Help identify McDermott cues?

I like this thinking, it does remind me of the DP designs. If it has a McD buttcap could be someone just stuck one on there after losing the original.

Foul I’d not seen in the wild before

I use this as a metal image of where I want to hit on the rail, a lot of times. I think many players do that without meaning to mark the position. In my head, it also plays a bit of a psychological game with the opponent if they are not a great player, since they see me touch the rail for my...

    Fargo ratings men vs women

That is semantics and a comparative skill level. If you are a 10 year old basketball player, you may be a top 10 year old "pro" basketball player because you are better than the other 10 years olds, but in the open world of everyone, that won't fly. In this case, the women "pro" players are...

    Fargo ratings men vs women

It is also possible if the results show them playing at a higher level. Say a female is beating the top existing women players by a decent margin, 750 opponents, and they are winning 11-5, 9-3, 9-5, 11-6, etc... Fargo will give that woman an 800 or so rating even though she has not played any...

    Fargo ratings men vs women

No, because Fargo has no idea if the player is a man or a woman, just a result of some games and matches played. It just shows that woman, for whatever reason, aren't as good on average as the men. It also doesn't matter where you're from, and for the most part what games you're talking about...

    10-Ball Last Rule

Not even about cheating, but honestly being mistaken. Close calls can be tough to call.

    10-Ball Last Rule

My main issue with all ball fouls is if there is no ref at the table. Often you can brush a ball, not feel it, the other player calls it. But they are 10 feet away, and may have been incorrect, it was close but no touch. Personally, I have had a few times where I shot a ball, and thought I...

Travel to places, anyone around Chattanooga TN, Sumpter SC or Castleberry FL?

Thanks Dave. I have learned to call places to see if they have league ahead of time LOL. Although at a few places I just started chatting with the league players even when no tables were free and got into their crowd to hang out and ended up finding people to play with for the days I am there.

Travel to places, anyone around Chattanooga TN, Sumpter SC or Castleberry FL?

I have several work trips through the end of the year and into Jan heading to the above 3 places. If anyone lives around there and wants to get together to play, chat, show off equipment, swap pool player lies, or knows of places to visit, please let me know. If you want my # send me a message...

    First time going to Q-Masters

I missed seeing your post, I was in Monday but they had a 45 min wait and I decided to not wait. I played Tuesday all night, met a random fellow work traveler who came in and we played in table 55 for hours. I really like the place, the food I got was good, and they had good old fashioned...

Which is BEST cuecase? Whitten? Laara? Phi eastwood? Rusty Melton? Jill Hawk? Or?

For functionality as well as ruggedness, JB cases. The other cases that you mentioned are more along the lines of a custom cue with inlays rather than just a case.

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

Never mind the pros, I'm amazed at how many players of all levels are using carbon fiber shafts now. In just a few years it went from maybe 1 out of 10 to more like 8 out of 10 on your typical league night. The whole tradition and feel thinking is definitely not swaying most to not go with the...
