The CARBON FIBER Shaft With the LEAST Cue Ball DEFLECTION

JF SMO and the REVO, hands down are the lowest deflection. SMO actually wins out as my overall best CF shaft since it has a nicer hit feel than the Revo. Although I may rate CF shafts a bit differently than most, in my view, if you get a CF shaft it should be somewhat different in performance and feel than a wood shaft. I am not trying to find a CF shaft that acts like a wood shaft, I want something new and different with benefits more than just durability. I never had to replace a wood shaft due to warping or other damage, so I want my CF shafts to offer something else.

Does flowers not offer an 11.8ish sized shaft? It was the worst preformer in the group and it's 12.5. I am not very familular with the brand. I would think that it might of had a better chance if it was more comparable to the other three.

I was able to test only what was sent to me.

Regardless, you make a good point that larger-diameter CF shaft will in general have more CB deflection (although, this isn't always the case).

Because of the nature of the cf itself and the lay-up method used its possible to make larger diameter cf shafts with very lo squirt. That's generally not the case with wood shafts. Predator was able to make the Vantage lo-squirt by being able to remove more wood and replacing it with lighter stuff.

Nice video. I'm surprised the Revo was knocked off the top, by a brand I've never heard of, no less.
They sell for $550 on FB.

Seems super customizable though, which in my opinion would justify the price. Can be made with any joint and various tip diameters.

What some(most?) people fail to get is that ALL shafts deflect and you adjust to whatever that is pretty damn quick. The difference in lo-d shafts is tiny and once you play a while with a shaft, ANY shaft, your eye/hand/brain computer compensates without you thinking about it. I know a guy that plays with nothing but old-school hi-squirt maple and he'll beat just about everyone on here. Bring your lowest squirt, highest tech shaft and get a dose. BTW, he lives in Oklahoma and mows grass for a living. Durbin cue, solid maple, le pro tips is what he uses.
I agree with this. I also know of the player you mention. I spoke to him at DCC a few years back. He plays onepocket great too. I told him I'm a fellow Exmark rider...lol

Good point. A good player can adjust to a cue with any amount of CB deflection. Although, this will take different amounts of time depending on the player, and some players don't like changing equipment.

However, LD shafts do offer slight advantages.

CF shafts also offer advantages.

Carbon Fiber does not swell with humidity or become sticky like LD wood does. It's one of the things i hated about wood shafts. You could have some temperature diffrences, but not as much as wood

I see this cited a lot, yet interestingly wood shafts (among pros) are far more popular among people in hot/humid places like Taiwan and the Philippines while carbon dominates Europe.

Predator Throne3 3 Pool Cue

1 x Predator REVO Pool Shaft - 12.4 mm - 29 inches - White Vault Plate

1 x 18.5 oz weight

I just bought the above to replace my Predator 314 that's about 31 years old. When I first switched to Predator from a standard wood shaft with a lot of deflection I loved it. My game almost immediately moved up a small notch. In recent years I felt like that 31 year off shaft deflected much more than when I first bought it and in a less consistant way. The same shot, with the same speed and same amount of English seemed to have a higher deflection variance. Don't ask me to explain it. It was just inconsistent and driving me crazy enough to splurge and ugrade my cue and switch to a Revo even though I had never played with one.

I've used it twice now for about 1 hour of total playing.

To me, this thing is miraculous. My typical speed now is nowhere near my best from the late 90s. I hardly play now. But in the 1 hour of use of this cue I was hitting the balls with more confidence, control and accuracy than I have since my best days. Everything about it is awesome. The balance feels superior, the hit super solid, the accuracy better than anything I've ever tried and even my cueball control improved because of the greater accuracy.

I was laughing to myself that I may need to reevaluate whether the best players today are actually better shot makers than those of the past. If the guys from the 70s, 80s, and 90s had shafts like these they'd never miss either. :ROFLMAO:
