Ferrule-less shafts I have found that most ferrules have a cushioning effect. If you like a hard hit and don't mind the sound, you will probably like it...never tried it with a soft or medium tip though. I use it exclusively on my Harpoon (tm) jump cue because it transfers energy so well...
