Business trip to Vegas next week, looking for 1-pocket games or maybe golf?

Hi. I hardly ever post here because I just don't have the time, but I figure it wouldn't hurt to see if anyone in the Vegas area wants to play some one-pocket. I currently live in the middle of nowhere, Idaho, where nobody plays one hole. I'll be at Nellis the first 2 weeks of April, and...

    To anyone at Bagram Airfield...

I won't be there for awhile, but I'm curious, what type of tables do they have there?

Soooo, I'm moving to Mountain Home, Idaho... anyone in the Boise area here?

I'm moving from North Carolina to Idaho next month and was wondering if there is anyone in the area. I'll be living in Mountain Home, near Boise. Right now, I live only 5 minutes away from a great pool hall, but it looks like I'll have to drive to Boise (about 40 minutes) to find a place to...

Moving GCI cross-country, any tips and can I reuse cloth?

Hi. I'm moving from North Carolina to Idaho later this month and am taking my 9' GCI with me. Are there any tips on how to properly secure the slate on the 18 wheeler it will be travelling in? I was planning on stacking the 3 pieces of slate (or Brunstone or whatever they used on GCIs) on top...

When did Falcon stop making Predator Cues?

Thanks for the info, that's what I was looking for. I did see their 2010 catalog so I knew they were still around, and they did mention their association with Predator, but they didn't say when they stopped producing Predator cues. Thanks to everyone else for the additional info, too.

When did Falcon stop making Predator Cues?

I have a 2K1 "1st Edition" I bought back in early 2002 and was curious if it was made by Falcon or if Predator had already transitioned their manufacturing to China by then. I was about to buy another Predator until I realized they were made in China. Nothing against China, but for the money...

Gold Crown I went from plain to beautiful (to me at least) after refinish

Thanks for all the kind words everybody. It was certainly one of the more enjoyable projects I've completed. There were four layers of paint that I stripped off using paint stripper. I needed to do 4-5 applications to get most of it off. I sanded away what was left over with a random...

Gold Crown I went from plain to beautiful (to me at least) after refinish

I bought my first table about 6 months ago (a 9' GC I) and wanted to share some pics of the refinishing process. First, I never imagined I would own a table until I was retired. I'm in the military, and with all the moving I didn't consider owning a table to be practical. However, I...

Gold Crown I Aprons Don't Align Correctly

Thanks for the help. I got the aprons to fit perfectly now. I didn't have the aprons seated deeply enough into the rails for them to swing all the way in before. It's a bit tricky though, because the aprons feel very securely attached to the rails even when they aren't completely seated...

Gold Crown I Aprons Don't Align Correctly

Thanks, I'll try attaching the aprons to the rails differently than how I'm doing it now....because they aren't swinging in that much the way I'm doing it (maybe 10 degrees in). I see how the aprons would fit together perfectly if they were swung in 20-25 degrees however.

Gold Crown I Aprons Don't Align Correctly

Hi. I just finished refinishing the aprons on my 9' GC I. I'm having a difficult time reattaching the aprons. I read through the recent thread about the guy's skirt falling off but that hasn't helped. I've tried swapping the sides around and my aprons already have the alumininum holder...

Quiet Eye and Cue Tip Positioning

Here's a paper on the "quiet eye" phenemenon: http://michaelmccafferty.com/QuietEye-Billiards.pdf I reread the above article and I think I see what I've been doing wrong. I'd use the quiet eye on the OB, but not on the cue ball, whereas the study showed the quiet eye focuses on both nearly...

Quiet Eye and Cue Tip Positioning

First, thanks for all the advice on this website, it has helped me tremendously. After a lot of work, I finally have a consistently straight stroke and a centerball hit that feels natural to me. Unfortunately, I'm rarely able to run a rack of 9 ball because of my inability to focus on both...

I can't hit the ball exactly center? Any drills?

Thanks everyone for all their help. I will incorporate the drills into my daily practice and continue my slow but steady progress towards my current goal of being able to run 2-3 racks of 9 ball on a consistent basis. I have lurked on this site for some time and the collective knowledge on...

I can't hit the ball exactly center? Any drills?

I started playing pool seriously 1 year ago, and have spent that entire time building a fundamentally correct stroke that I feel comfortable with (still working on it). Before and during that time, I needed to put my tip far from the center to get all the spin that I wanted, and I didn't care...

    Pros/Cons of light cues

I have a 19 oz predator that I play with almost 99% of the time. The times that I don't use it, I use 16 and 17 oz house cues that I hit with nearly as well, and like the feel of better. I am thinking of lowering the weight of my predator to 17 oz. What are the drawbacks of using a lighter...
