a simple ? for other room owners

Jeff, If he sells the tables, he won't get much. When my room was auctioned, the tables went cheap. Maybe $300-400 each. Everytime I drive past BankShots, which is every day, I don't see much of anyone there. I know what TBone says about the clientelle there. The language I've heard from...

    What Happened to Pool Rooms

Sounds like Carl's place in Depew, is that right Jim? If so, man, I remember the room the way it was. I'm in Erie, but originally a Rochester player, so I remember the good old days there. Lots of action! That area overlooking the tables was perfect! I agree with you on kids these days...

    What Happened to Pool Rooms

In a lot of ways, the poolroom we closed a couple of months ago fit the bill you describe. We focused on quality equipment, a comfortable atmosphere without insanely loud music, full cue repairs, and education. My business partner and I BOTH went through BCA certification to be recognized...

What cloth is on your tables?

Championship Tour Edition. Wears one heck of a lot better than Simonis in my room. Comparable price. We've been extremely happy with it. -Padron- www.greatlakesbilliards.com

    Ball Cleaners PLEASE HELP

I use the BallStar cleaner in my room. Has heavy, medium and light settings. Nice not to run a full cycle for a quick touchup. Cleans and polishes. Not so great for scuffs from cuetips, though. I usually take a microfiber cloth and a little glass cleaner to the cue ball, and any other with...

What's your favorite low cost promotion ideas?

The most popular one we have is Free Jukebox night on Tuesdays. Kids especially like this one. Great for getting in groups of players, rather than singles, as the girlfriends who don't play have something to do in choosing the songs. We try to limit it to a few songs at a time per person, so...

    This area

Keeping a room Best of luck in your hunt. I can somewhat empathise here. My landlord filed Chapter a couple months ago, and the bank might take over. We're the big tenant in a building that's split into several other businesses, so we're hoping to be able to work it out. Only been in...

    Answer to sticky hands?

I keep bottles of a product called "Silky Hand" from CueSilk in my poolroom for the customers use. It's a liquid powder that you spray on your hands. Works well for at least a couple of hours. It avoids the mess of powder all over the tables. I sell it in small bottles for folks to keep in...

Need a rough value of a Gandy Big G 9'

If I were more into cue trading, I would consider it, but for the tables and lights I have, I'd really prefer a cash deal. Let me know how it comes out, and if you're still interested, we'll arrange for you to see our tables. -Dan- www.greatlakesbilliards.com
