Gold Crown 1.5 for a happy birthday (I hope)

Thank you. They would be worth every effort to locate and purchase. It is clear they are an engineered extension of the wooden aprons whose moulded shape allows the apron system to firmly attach to the base frame via the anchor straps. And yes, they do add a measure of rigidity while completing...

Gold Crown 1.5 for a happy birthday (I hope)

The plastic pieces are an integral part of the rail system. They do not corner attach with L brackets. The plastic parts screw along the bottom edges of each wood apron for the long rail sides and the head rail.. There are 7 anchor straps as identified in the Brunswick Gold Crown Service Manual...

Gold Crown 1.5 for a happy birthday (I hope)

You might consider finding a set of original plastic skirts. They nicely finish the GC I look and cover the otherwise exposed pocket bottoms. When properly attached with the original anchor straps, the skirting does add some rigidity to the apron system. Ten years ago I found and purchased a...

Premier League Pool (PLP) 6-13 March2023, Leicester- Earl makes his debut !

Yes, I have to agree. Shaw's post match and trophy presentation behavior was pathetic. SFR played amazing pool (how 'bout that 2 ball in the final rack) and Shaw couldn't bring himselft to express anything positive about his performance. Yet, he would have expected his butt kissed if he had...

Experiments in looking at the cueball while delivering the stroke.

I'm pretty much the same. Standing, I sight the contact point on the OB. My only slight difference is I allow my mind's eye to set me over the shotline (without conscious input) and trust it to determine the corresponding contact point on the CB to strike the already identified point on the...

Experiments in looking at the cueball while delivering the stroke.

You hit the key words: Discipine, Concentration and Focus. And, as I'm sure you know, playing or practising like that is hard work. I find 30 or 40 minutes in full concentration, staying with my PSR on every shot is not easy to do. Yet, to do it demands serious focus and concentration IMHO, it...

Experiments in looking at the cueball while delivering the stroke.

Absolutely correct. IOW, all aiming is completed before the bridge hand hits the cloth. Then, ensuring the stroke motion is coming through precisely straight. Slight pause, and watch the delivery stroke return to the intended CB point of contact. In my method, I also confirm my right elbow is...

    Low deflection stroke

Reading this entire arcane discussion, my conclusion is simply that pool is pretty much an art form, implied physics notwithstanding.

    International 9-Ball Schedule

Agree, I'm not springin' $20 for three matches. $12.95 for a day was steep enough.

What do you do when you're lost?

Post #23 touches on thiis: don't communicate in words. That allows your conscious mind to interfer with the process of playing. Communicate only with "pictures". Your mind already knows how to do this. Instead, just feed it a picture of what you want to happen and trust the process. Simply...

Anyone tried shaping their tips to account for all the mushrooming/flattening that'll happen in its lifetime?

For years I've placed the new tip on a hard surface and give it a few light taps with a hammer. Seems to eliminate the mushroom/flattening issue. Then, mount, sand and shape to preference. Maintain as requried.

    Bert Schrager

Burt made two cues for me, one in 1976 and the other a year or two later, each with two shafts. The first one was a merry window in birds eye maple. The second was coco bola with four faint ebony points. Both cues had ivory joints and ferrules with irish linen wraps. i paid about 130 for the...

    What's The Shot? 14.1

My intial 10 sec glance was to play the nine with controlled speed into the cluster. Having read all comments, I remain with that choice.
