    Rubber for snooker rails

We need new rubber on a 70's vintage 6/12' Brunswick gold crown snooker table. It has original step rubber with a 1/4" flat facing for different size balls. We use from 2 1/16" to 2 1/4" balls and original rubber accommodates well. Tried everyone from Brunswick to Muellers. Some have step...

    subrails

thanks again but the original ? is if I should use thinner shims on the sides than the corners. I am not at the poolhall right now, but I am sure you are correct on the factory angles(143/144).

    subrails

thanks, Glenn for responding. We did a GCI a few years ago, but the side pockets seem too small. This is a GCIII that has not had the rails worked on. Corners are about 140 deg and 12deg top to bottom. I think the sides are about 112deg. The table will probably be used mostly for 1p and it...

Do I use 1/4" on all pockets or 1/4" on corners and 1/8" on the sides? 1/4" on the sides seems like it would make them too small.

Anyone with knowledge of longer cues?

Schmelke Makes length if you do not want to pay big bucks. 32/32, 32/30, etc. Call Dave, he is good to work with.

    Cue length

Golfers Tennis players, and baseball players use clubs, rackets, and bats of lengths to match their size. Can you imagine a 6'2" golfer using clubs made for a 5'2" player? I am 6'2" and have used a 64" cue for years. I do think it is important that the shaft and butt be the same length...

    6/12 cloth

Yeah We have talked about sand traps and water hazards too. These old buzzards will play on about anything and would ***** if they had nothing to ***** about.

    6/12 cloth

2nd time It was covered w/300 in 4 yrs. It is a gciii probably built in the 80's?

    6/12 cloth

Not true I have played on thicker cloth that is just as fast (granita?). Table is flat and level but minor rolls come from some slate imperfections and I do not wish nor do I have a source to have them re-ground.

    6/12 cloth

Our golf tAble now has simonis 300 and is plenty fast, however the thin cloth really magnifies the rolls. Any suggestions for cloth with comparAble speed but maybe thicker?

    I phone break ap

Wow I would have thought much higher than 21. It is a great tool if you want to see how little changes can affect speed. We actually found greater speeds breaking just off the head rail.

    I phone break ap

Just got ap today and was surprised that very few could break 20mph. I know some pros can aproach 30mph. What are some average speeds around your room? It is a fun ap, if you don't have it, it is only $4.99. A lot cheaper than a radar gun!

    Are some pool players stupid

double d I agree there is nothing wrong with pool, it is great sport. It is just some of the people (nits) who give it an undeservedly bad name.

    Are some pool players stupid

And when you can beat the the guys you have been paying for lessons, they suddenly don't want to play anymore! And people continuously whine about why our game is not considered a "sport". How about no sportsmanship.

    Are some pool players stupid

or just desperate? Out of towner comes in today whose name many of you would recognize. He is looking for an old local from whom he won a little over a thousand a couple weeks ago. The old man is still willing to gamble but wants 2 games in a race to 7. The out of towner hangs around all day...
