I think you are talking about two things at the same time. Your title implies poor mechanics but then you discuss "boring" strokes. I don't see them being the same thing. I don't assume a guy sucks because his mechanics are simple. It's often the other way around!

What is not fun is trying to have a logical and science oriented discussion with people who can't get beyond emotion.

Yep, learned it from Hal. CTE gets you within probably a diamond of the pocket. The rest is rote practice disguised as magic.
