    Van Boening VS Godzilla

I don't know if Shane would want to win. Godzilla a a sore loser....

    What was he thinking here?

Eewwwww... He's looking over at another table where someone is bent over and he's regretting the view of the "Grand Canyon".

    Jay Helfert Movie

Awesome I filled my sinuses with coffee watching that. Great job!

    Efren versus Godzilla

I'm not nearly as good as Efren but I can say that playing Godzilla is not pleasant and I don't win much. :)

    OB1 shaft vs. Godzilla

I have an original edition Predator with a Sniper tip and Godzilla kicks my ass regularly. I'm guessing that even if I changed to an OB-1 Godzilla would still kick my ass.

    Holy Sweat Stains Batman!!

I hope you had a lot of deodorant on That gives me an idea: I'll have took into getting a shirt made with preprinted sweat stains. An opponent might take it easy on me 'cause I look like l'm about to die with fear. ;)

A poll on Ages, How old are AZBers?

Gregory, you're the same age as me down to the month. I got hit with a great line from a (much) younger team mate this week - "If you've been playing for over 27 years, shouldn't you be a lot better by now?"

Pro Pool tours... why do they fail?

I've come full circle on the gambling thing. I used to think gambling needed to be removed to give a pro tour credibility. I've come around to a different way of thinking on that. I still think "gambling" needs to go. "Gambling" being the guy who's 5 racks better trying to get away with...

    The Break Cue Lie

I have a mercury-filled aluminum break cue with a stainless steel tip. When I let my stroke out a little to get above 40mph, I hear a kind of pinging noise. Is that normal?

    A race to one?

This is a very good idea. In order for Pool to make it on American television, you need something that caters to a relatively short attention span and has some immediate excitement built into it. In this format, everyone has a chance and you can show complete "matches" in realtime.

What is your pre-stroke post-thought routine?

Generally I line up the shot, bend over, take a few warmup strokes then, just before I execute, I scrunch my eyes tightly closed and think "Oh God, I hope I don't hurt myself...."

    Earl Strickland Warnings 2006 WPA

No one has said whether or not Earl likes broccoli. My favorite fanatsy food is Bacon-mint ice cream topped with steak sauce and lake trout but no raisins. I wonder if Earl would like that? (Cubby Broccoli wouldn't like broccoli because that would be cannibalism...)

    I submit for your viewing

The Baltimore Bullet is a great pool movie. It's not really accurate in the pool part, but it's very entertaining IMHO. Plus, when the two main characters finally have to match up James Coburn delivers one of the great lines of all times - "Just remember kid, I taught you everything you know...

    Height of various pro players?

Go to the next pro tourney with a scale, tape measure and a clipboard and see how much data you can get before they throw you out. :D

    I submit for your viewing

I skipped around and watched nearly 3 minutes of that link. I feel a definite loss of useful lifespan that I can never get back. (Problem is that I'm a connisseur of bad movies and may have to actually watch the whole thing someday just to prove I could sit through it  )

First Effort at a YouTube video - Earl's 1st win

I'm going to agree with everyone else. Great piece. Hope to see more. Thanks.

Which of these characteristics is the most important to a pool player?

I don't know that you can pick just one. On the physical side you're talking not just a fine motor skill required to stroke but also the ability to deliver that stroke repeatably, sense feedback and adjust to different tables, etc. On the mental side, I'd use the term "focus". Concentration...

    chalk

I'm shooting with Harley-Davidson chalk. (got it as a gift). It's made by Tweeten and I'm pretty sure it's just blue Master in different paper. Plays like it. Years ago we had an idiot drop a couple of cubes of Master into a pitcher of beer. The beer turned blue but was still drinkable (at...

Difference between linen and irish linen

Meucci is the only cue I'm aware of that laquers over the wrap (rendering it useless IMHO). My Predator, McDermott, Heubler and Joss all readily absorbed moisture. They were all wrapped with raw, pressed linen. I won my Meucci in a raffle and the first thing I did was sent it to a different...
