    straight pool "balls settling" rule

In the actual situation, my opponent wanted to put the ball back on the table because he would have an easier combo to shoot for. Also, the ball "settled in" two shots after it came to be in that spot in the pocket. I think it's kind of ridiculous to have some balls "settling" into pockets...

    straight pool "balls settling" rule

What if after pocketing another ball in another pocket, cueball hits the rail very close to the "settling ball", and this compression wave in the rails moves the ball and it falls in? This would look very similar to the case where you actually hit the ball very thin and pocket it. Would you...

    straight pool "balls settling" rule

Can somebody please help with this ruling: One ball sits deep inside left pocket touching the short rail. Players hits another object ball in the other pocket on the same short rail. He hits it with some speed, and with a stop shot, and both the object ball and the ball sitting in the pocket...

    another rules question

What do you mean "anyway". If cue ball hit the bridge, it does not really matter if you are playing "cue ball only" or all balls foul. Kind of because the cue ball is a member of the "cue ball only" set. :)

    Win percentages

Yeah, except Eurotour where they have score updates during the match.

"There is real-time scoring streaming in." Yeah. Only that it's not really streaming in, nor it is real-time. :)

Gli Problem with this winning percentage is that somebody could have had easier games in first rounds and that would push his percentage up... Now I understand why GLI was better... :)

    Manalo was Robbed

there is no such thing as a "simultaneous rail and ball hit". this is because ball to ball contact is probably 100 times shorter than ball to rail contact. so, it could be one of those: 1 -cue ball hits ball, then rail 2 -cue ball hits ball, and then while still in contact with the ball...

    Measuring Break Speed

Simple, just record the sound of the break, get some free sample editing software and measure the time between two hits, one being the cue striking the cue ball, and the other, cue ball striking the rack. You can easily get the time in milliseconds. Then measure or calculate the distance from...

    Before Snooker Became Big Time

well, in a way, all cue games are perfect for tv, however, snooker is much more spectator friendly than nine ball. this is due to the position coding of balls, compared to color coding in nine ball. this makes it more enjoyable to watch, and less mental effort needed to understand what is a...

    Interesting observation

could be this I have a (possible) solution to both of those. For the ring finger tapping, try this experiment. Put your palm on a flat surface, like holding a mouse (a little flatter), and then try to bring the middle of your palm down. The ring finger has a natural tendency to move forward...

    IPT Day 4 Video

I just assumed the cue ball was near the string, and that it travels 48 inches (122 cm) to the rack. 50 inches from spot to spot, less 2 inches for the ball width. Then just measure the time between two hits and divide. :) For that 42 km/h break in another topic, I actually got 45.5 km/h...

All Japan Championship 2005, 42mph break!

28 mph? From listening to the sound of that 40 mph break video, it looks more like 28 mph break. I extracted the wav file (using VirtualDub), loaded it in a wav editing software (GoldWave), and then selected the time section between two peeks, first being the cue hitting the CB and then the...
