BCM - 4 point player w/veneers, leather, jps

Last price drop, then I'll just keep it. This is a ridiculous price for a 4 point cue with veneers, leather, and custom JPs. And it's made by one of the best playing makers who doesn't have a waiting list for years and/or crazy high prices.

I'm amazed that this is still here. How about a price drop?

Soft, Medium, or Hard... That is the question

Same here. In fact, I sometimes feel like I can draw better with my break cue than I can with my playing cue, and that has a phenolic tip on it. As far as tips, I just went on a tip-testing binge, and both Tom and the Renfro (above) make a quality product - they were both the two best of the...

This cue has been good to me for the last 5 years. Let's find it a good home.

    Critique/Analyze my stroke

Not an instructor, but how tightly are you gripping the cue? It seems like it bounces a little bit at the end of your stroke, which is usually a sign that you're holding too tight.

Should I first learn to jump or kick?

Kicking Realistically, if you can't see your object ball, 9 out of 10 times (or more) the kick is the right shot. Jumping is the best choice under a very narrow set of conditions (the right distances from the blocker balls, enough room for the cue ball to stop bouncing before it gets to a...

BCM - 4 point player w/veneers, leather, jps

I picked this up from Bryan Mordt brand new in 2009 and have played with it ever since. I'll miss it, but I just got word that my new cue is finished and I'm a 1 woman kind of guy. Plays great. Here are the specs: 4 rosewood points into maple forearm (made from a full splice blank) 4 veneers...

Best way to improve your shot selection

Here's a good shot selection drill I run with my league teammates. Break a rack of 8 ball, study the layout and pick your side, then take 3 of them off of the table (you can take more or less, depending on your skill level). Now take ball in hand and run the rest of the side, but you have to...

    Good change?

Not an instructor, but I do the same thing. Another trick I've found that helps me with longer shots when you have to hit it harder is to use a closed bridge and tighten it up, to help keep the cue in line.

if you could play like a pro?

Thorsten. If I had half of that guy's mental game, I'd play 3 balls better. Perhaps after the week, I'd remember some of the mindset and retain enough to improve a bit.

    EyePosition

You are correct on all counts. However, I was trying to simplify the concept to help these guys get started. If they get comfortable approaching the edge-to-A and edge-to-C shots this way, they'll intuitively approach the others correctly as well. The diagram was meant to be a learning tool...

    Custom Cue Question

Seconded. Bryan makes a GREAT cue - I've played with one for the last 5 years, and it's finally up for sale because I'm getting my dream cue I've been saving for.

    EyePosition

Pretty much, yeah. You move straight into the shot from that point but line up a half tip from center instead of center ball, then pivot and you're on the aiming line. It seems like magic. I was skeptical before I took a few days to try it out, but my accuracy skyrocketed, and I'm making...

    Custom Cue Question

My suggestion is to post that sentence in the wanted/for sale section of the forum. You'll have plenty to choose from.

    Alignment on shots with English

A low deflection shaft is not a no deflection shaft - there's always deflection when hitting the cue ball off of the vertical center. No matter what kind of cue he has, he's going to have to learn to make these adjustments with it. Yes, it makes a difference, but it's not going to eliminate...

Gary, a lot of people seem to have problems with the concept of lining up behind the visuals. I put together a diagram - does this make sense?

How important is having your own cue?

Wait. You put together a 2 pack in your APA 8 ball league the other day as a 3, playing against an 8(huh?) to win your 2-7 (again, huh?) race in a shut out because you've been asking questions here about position play for like a week and you pick things up REALLY fast (uh-huh) and now you're...
