Who is the best player of the last 40 years not to win a major event?

Interesting question. Less interesting, and ridiculous and not even close, answer by the OP. My answer - no idea. Probably but not necessarily a Filipino.

2026 JOY Heyball Grand Masters Finals

Amazing game. Zhang missed a couple of fairly easy pots in the 62nd and 63rd racks. Pressure, pressure, pressure.

Pro Pocket Size TOO Small for 9 Ball

Yeh, ok. Let's get it on the telly!

Pro Pocket Size TOO Small for 9 Ball

Surely the whole point of Banks is that it is actually supposed to be difficult (which is why it is played in the first place) and that a percentage anywhere near 50% is pretty damn special? Why make it a B&R game? We have long sets in 8 and 9 (and 10 ball) for that.

    Well they pretty much did.

Pro Pocket Size TOO Small for 9 Ball

Snooker is very much an offense oriented game at the top level. The break building nowadays is through the roof. Safety play is important but it is just one small part of the game. In 9 ball, even on slick cloths with 5" pockets, deciding when to go defensive can be trickier than in snooker - it...

    I finally played Ultimate Pool

But this isn't true. You were going well until this.

Higher skill pocket billiards players - 9 ball or snooker players?

Yeh fair enough - that's my own bias making me misread what you wrote. I still think you are overestimating the ability to cross over but I hope to be proved wrong. It is certainly within the realms of possibility and it would be a great story.

    WNT, WPA and 2026

SVB was never the keenest of travellers. Now that he has a World Championship in the bag and has probably made enough money from the game to see life out, I'm not surprised if that reluctance to travel has kicked back in.

    WNT, WPA and 2026

I don't see the diluted fields (compared to a few years ago) being an issue. The fields are strong, new players are coming through, and there are more and more elite players - the game is way stronger at all levels. It won't be long before the "diluted" fields are stronger than the fields of a...

Higher skill pocket billiards players - 9 ball or snooker players?

Maybe you should enter Q school and get on the World Snooker Tour. You would "easily" have beaten Oliver Brown or Craig Steadman in this event with those higher average breaks in tournament play.

10 best players in the world

The world championship pays 250k to the winner. The US Open 100k. Several other tournaments 10s of 1000s. The top players are now getting 6 figure sponsorships. They can earn more in exhibitions in a day than many people in the first world earn in 2 weeks. It's hardly third world status - maybe...

Higher skill pocket billiards players - 9 ball or snooker players?

For sure. When Alex P tried to qualify for the world snooker tour (and he did well but didn't ultimately fell short) he was complimented, by snooker players, for playing safeties that snooker players wouldn't see. There's always something to learn and the cross-pollination (that is happening...

Higher skill pocket billiards players - 9 ball or snooker players?

Shaw said afterwards that he played safeties he knew Trump didn't know how to get out of. He also of course is a much better pool player. It is apples and oranges - snooker players who had dabbled in pool have done well in tournaments but probably need to get lucky with layouts/patterns against...

Ronnie doing Ronnie Things - Highest Break Ever

Yep, he doesn't care. It's a bit like me the first time I didn't care about making a break and run at 8 ball after going a little out of shape on my 7th ball and played safe instead 😂. Except it's a million levels above that and then some, and the game is already won. Every other player, even...

10 best players in the world

Fargo tells you pretty much all you need to know. Just watch all the games that Ameer Ali has been seen to have played and you'll see that it's more or less spot on. Fargo lacks a "current form" list but I guess we use the other rating lists for this and make a best guess.

Ronnie doing Ronnie Things - Highest Break Ever

He didn't even pause to consider shooting the black after the 15th red. He is a different breed, a genius.

    Push shot foul?

If the balls are frozen (which appears to be the case) then it's a legal hit. The referees and Karl Boyes were probably confused, partly because of switching between games and short memories (Karl actually played a fair bit of English pool after he "retired"), and partly because this isn't too...

Aye that must be why there's all the exhibition shots all over YouTube.

Ronnie O'Sullivan does a jump shot - in a snooker match.

It wouldn't surprise me if we see him in a Matchroom WNT event at some point but I believe he has half his mind on an 8th snooker world championship and the other half on heyball. Great jump shot with the tiny balls and the tiny cue!
