    Break speed.

Sorry I'm late to the party. I'm not an expert on power breaks, but while I was writing the Break Speed app (the Predator one) I did learn a few things that some might find helpful for quickly getting a bit more power from their break. Speed tips 1: Use a loose wrist during your break and...

    Predator Break Speed App

Update - I've been able to resolve this issue and I'll be testing the app over the next couple days to make sure that everything works as expected. Assuming it does, I'll release the update (v3.1.1). The issue turns out to be a bug in Android OS. For the technically curious, here's the bug that...

    Predator Break Speed App

This is the same Break Speed app. We have a cross-promotional deal with Predator, so we re-skinned the app with their art assets and updated the Android app to include the same features that had been in the iOS version for some time. It works the exact same as the original version.

    Predator Break Speed App

Working on it... Hey gang, There is apparently an issue with 4.4 (KitKat) updates that prevents Break Speed from working. I know this to be a problem for the Galaxy S4 and the Nexus 5. If there is a device running KitKat that actually works with the app, I'd like to know about it. There are...

Will someone w/break speed app do a test???

Sorry I'm late to the party. Work has been keeping me exceptionally busy lately. A few notes from the thread: I clocked Evgeny Stalev's speed from Bob's post and his break was an amazing 32.47 from that video. Breaking from the rail/slate - the folks that are saying that your comfort level...

Break speed? Theres an app 4 that....

Ah... then try moving the phone. I've found that when this happens, it's pretty rare because the phone has to be in that "echo sweet spot" to get fooled. Usually moving it from one side of the table to the other (or even next to you on the end rail) will do the trick.

Break speed? Theres an app 4 that....

On a totally different note... Somebody has probably done something similar to this, but this has really helped me. Racking balls sucks when you're trying to work on your break. :) If you are working on new mechanics it can take a while to get your body moving in the right places at the right...

Break speed? Theres an app 4 that....

It may seem like killing the app was helping, but I'm pretty confident that's not the case. Rather, I'd be willing to bet that it's a case of cue ball bounces causing the problem and it's coincidence that the breaks following the ATK kills were those without loud bounces. To prove this, the...

Break speed? Theres an app 4 that....

There's really no need to edit the time. That timer is just a maximum time to break - you can just tap the screen when you're done in order to get your speed from the recorded audio. The Android version (shown in the video) was reduced to 1 minute because certain devices were running low on...

    Break Speed App

Hey.. if y'all have a moment, please go give it a star-rating/comment on the App Store (iPhone) or Android Market. I'm not asking to go rate it 5-star (though, that would be nice!) - but feel free to rate it honestly. Just don't give us bad marks for not having the history-tracking/saved-breaks...

    Break Speed App

Correct. I got the little thumbtack mic and that's what I used for all of our development and at the US Open broadcast. Works really well. Still one of our best-performing devices (ipod with mic.) Note that the first-generation ipods don't have support for external mics and cannot be used with...

Break speed? Theres an app 4 that....

We're adding in support for the BreakRAK, which uses a custom recognizer (because you're not hitting a rack of balls, but rather a ball on a piston-like affair.) We're also adding support to post your speeds to Facebook & Twitter. Each post will be something different (and specific to your...

Break speed? Theres an app 4 that....

I do plan to produce one, but right now, we're in the midst of putting out updates for the mobile versions of the app. Priories go where the requests come from, and the PC has only had about 2 or 3 requests for it. If we continue having very few requests for a PC version, then the thing that...

Slh, Sorry I missed your question... the app is already on sale and has been for a few weeks now. 20% off (from $5.99 down to $4.99.)

Break speed? Theres an app 4 that....

Slh, Yes, the iPhone 4 issues were resolved a while ago. It works just as well as the other phones. In fact, the process of getting the iPhone 4 working provided a much improved recognition overall (i.e., more reliable results.)

Break speed? Theres an app 4 that....

Break Speed Update Sorry for the late reply, I must have missed a notification email. The latest version is out (v1.5) for Android, iPhone and BlackBerry. This one works on iPhone 4. You can actually thank the iPhone 4 for this update - Apple introduced some really nice voice processing with...

Break speed? Theres an app 4 that....

And somehow, I completely forgot to mention this... There is a way to get the iPhone 4 to produce valid results... Simply plug in the earbuds (they include an in-line mic.) This will allow Break Speed to function while we work on finding a solution.

Break speed? Theres an app 4 that....

Yep, I'm aware of the iPhone 4 issues. I've been talking back and forth with Apple engineers and other developers of iPhone apps that rely on audio. Most of the iPhone 4 apps that use audio are broken or are putting out updates as fast as they can. In my tests, I've seen signs that point at the...
