Any instruction resources available for playing with an upright stance?

GC, a few years ago I added a Valley 88 to my basement pool room. It sits next to the GCIV. Because of crowding I started training with 9 ball-8 ball. 4 solids 4 striped 8 centered. It's a form of solo entertainment. Plus I can claim a runout (sometimes) before my back gets creaky.

Any instruction resources available for playing with an upright stance?

As a geezer (75) I'm following this thread closely. I can still get pretty low but not for more than a dozen balls. Old age sucks, but beats the alternative. Keep those tips coming in.

    Middle Finger vs Forefinger

Not an instructor but I've only found my "accurate and repeatable stroke" happens with the cue on my middle and ring fingers. Thumb, index and pinky just hang down there. YMMV.

JBCases is making CTE, easy to understand

I seem to recall some guy name of Lou who disputed JB's command of CTE.

    Gold Crown 7 Revealed

I'll keep my GC IV. I already own it and that white or black would clash with my basement decor.

There's a pool player in everyone, even Mary Tyler Moore

I remember that one too. Geezers. Yeah.

Anyone made a Pool Related Resolution for 2025

Yeah, I said I'd stop paying any attention to the stupidity of some of the posters on NPR. That worked until I woke up this morning. They don't bother me, I just feel sorry for the terminally deranged.

    GoSports 6' table

I have two tables, one a Valley 88 and a GC IV. I bought the Valley to have an extra when guys were over for a pool night and were hesitate to use the big table. I use the Valley by myself for practice with the magnetic cue ball to keep in "shape" for when I'm on motorcycle tours and playing...

AZBilliards don't Need Me ... Why do They Need You????

Well I've had a post removed entirely, nicely asked to edit a bad word and warned about something that I can't remember. All in all, quite fair and reasonable. Oh yeah they were all in NPR during two election seasons. Very good monitoring under extremely tense conditions. Well done.

IS IT BAD/WRONG TO SLIDE YOUR BRIDGE HAND???

Two very well known instructors have told me line up, lock on and step into the shot line, landing the bridge hand. Interpret that as you will. I will admit all my pool gloves have a hole in the heel of the hand. But I think I only land/slide 2-3 inches.

    English 6 foot pool tables

Not likely. Why not just get a Valley bar box? Cheaper and it can be make to have any pocket size you want.

    Black Ferrules

So take some black friction tape and do a wrap around your white ferrule. Play/practice a while then decide. I'm a geezer so I believe the 5 ball is orange, Gold Crowns are better and Willie is the GOAT.

    Your "first five" pointers...

Most of the "rules" written here are dependent on vision center and body type. No one size fits all. Here's two that cover those differences. Keep the cue level (as possible) and if using the bridge, brace the butt on the table. (If possible)

Should Mosconi Cup have one woman

I don't know. About ten years ago I was watching some 10 ball at SBE. it was Jennifer Beretta vs. Stevie Moore. Hill-hill, Stevie pulled off a win. I much enjoyed watching Jenn.

What shots objectively benefit from a closed bridge?

About sixteen years ago I took up pool again after a 35 year lay-off. Figured I needed some help and took some lessons from a well known instructor. First thing he says is what a crappy (closed) bridge I have. "Hey, it worked back in the day of pool rooms and bars." Worked on an open bridge...

    Elimin-8-ball

I do a lot of motorcycle touring across the country. Stopping in local bars reveals some pretty imaginative 8 ball house rules. So stopping in some joint in East Cow Poop, Montana and playing Elimin-8-ball with the local bull riders... What could go wrong?

    Waste of money pool items

    Long vs. short posts............

I really miss Tramp Steamer, always entertaining. There's another fellow who is always "I'm the greatest pool shooter, gun shooter, bar fighter, blah, blah, blah. Quite full of himself, very tiring. Then NPR, the world's foremost experts on everything, mostly liberal and long winded.

DCP, for all the grief you've given Randy and Scott over the years why do you insist on dredging these posts up? It really speaks for your character.
