Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

The same reason collectors hoard vintage Martin guitars, value investment. They are not players either. Modern players wouldn’t invest in a Balabuska, just to put a carbon fiber shaft on it to play.

Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

When i was young I didn’t really play much. In my late 40’s I took it up.again and was thrilled playing with the original Cuetec with a Le Pro tip. It was wrapped in fiberglass, so it was happy to live in my car trunk. I played APA and worked my way up to a 7 and would still use that cue if the...

What era of Schon plays best? (Cue Geek Talk)

I have had 4 Schon cues, 1 from the Runde era, 1 from the Clark era, and 2 newer Schons.. I felt very little difference between them and my 2 Pechauers and my early Joss West. I recently got my 5th Schon, an R12 Runde Schon and am using it with a Jacoby low deflection shaft. The balance on it...

    Expensive Cue Shooter

After a long time looking, I finally found a Schon R12 in like new condition. It wasn’t cheap. Couple that with a Jacoby low deflection shaft and it’s a sizable investment (for me). Throw in a leather Instroke 2x4 case and Predator break cue and I’m carrying almost $4k into the pool hall. It’s...

Best "car cue" cheap carbon fiber?

At one time I was doing on the road sales. I kept one of the early cue tecs in my car trunk. I never had a problem with it. It lived through some pretty extreme temperatures.

What do you think would happen if there were no handicaps, in any leagues or tournaments, and all tournaments were Open to all skill levels?

Not everybody has the talent or ability to compete in pool at a high level. To think they consider their match against another level 3 or 4 an “illusion of competition” is a huge insult. Some of those people play in a league 4 to 6 nights a week. They truly get excited when they win. They truly...

"Lock and load" the shoulder to control movement?

As usual, you came up with a great practice solution for something that has been bothering me. Even though my shooting has been very accurate lately, locking my shoulder didn’t cause any harm to my stroke because my chin alignment is so automatic. I’m hoping this will cure my haphazard draw...

    Nick Varner Interview Released

First of all, thank you for starting this podcast. Nick was my hero when I started getting serious about pool. He was great but remained humble, and had great character. Easy to choose him. I love the opportunity to get to know more about the personality of the greats, and and how they got to...

Smaller Pockets Don’t Always Play Smaller … Dr. Dave Evaluates His New Rails and Pockets

I have the same Olhausen table as yours, but in cherry. What is involved in ordering the new rails? Are they your custom request, or something Olhousen can do for others?

Do you have special shoes for shooting pool?

For me, the Crocs are ideal. Light weight, cool, and good arch support. If I play against fashionistas, I switch to Hey Dudes. Almost as good, but they need an insole to add arch support.

    Great experience with Breakandrun

    1. The cue was better than described. 2. He immediately contacted me with shipping plan and followed through by sending it the next day. 3. He stayed in contact to ensure correct and prompt delivery. 4. Cue and 2 shafts were packaged with excellent care and arrived in perfect shape. I can’t say...

    I Want A New Cue

You need a practice cue. That way you won’t be using up all the good shots in your game cue. The price of your cue determines how many good shots are in it. If it looks nice, that is just a side benefit.
