Advice on Picking a Pool Table

Brunswick says you need 18' 4" for an oversized 4x8(92x46). You're just short of that, but that's the way I'd go if it were me. Or you could go with a 9' or 10'. If I remember correctly, a too large of a table worked great for Kramer and Frank Costanza(lol).

    New cause of black marks

The black spot is rubbing off on the head ball when I break. Not sure about why cue ball has black spots, though.

    New cause of black marks

I realize that this is an older thread, but I thought I'd comment. I just posted on another thread(talk to mechanic) that I had brown leather pockets but I was getting black marks on the balls. I will investigate the spot to see if this is the culprit.

Changing Diamond Pro pockets from black to brown

I have a 30 year old Gandy. I recently had my leather pockets replaced. They are brown. I am also getting marks transferred onto the balls. The strange thing is, as I've looked at these in many different types of light, they are BLACK. Could the marks be coming from any other source than the dye?

I'd post about the value in the main forum. People that have an idea may not be looking to buy anything.

Poll on Not Smoking DURING tournament matches.

So, if I get you correctly, every establishment in the world should be as you like it just in case you may go there someday. Tell that to the 17(estimate?) pool halls no one can go to anymore in Cincinnati.

    Love your story, thanks.

Poll on Not Smoking DURING tournament matches.

The Ohio/Kentucky situation is pretty typical of why our pathetic politicians along with rich special interest groups should go suck an egg. What's wrong with letting a free market place decide what happens. By the way I'm an on again off again smoker who used his rights as a US citizen to quit...

    League payback

If the OP is saying he loses money from the total input including table time then he makes no sense. If he's saying he loses money from the prize fund portion then I agree with him. The total paid each week s/b broken down by table time/prize fund/expenses etc. Is it broken down?

Does Table Size Effect Your Game?

I play on an 46 x 92 at home and on a 9 footer once a week with buddies. I have more trouble on the 9 footer but I think it has more to due with 4.75" corners at home vs. the Diamond which are probably 4.5 but one table we play on from time to time looks like they're about 1" more than the...

    Smoking at tournament matches

IT'S SIMPLE REALLY! If I own a house or a business I have a right to make the rules. So, if I own a poolroom and decide that I want to allow smoking(or not), the tournament directors, fans, and participants can decide if they want to go there or not. Anyone else's thoughts are only opinions...

robert frost and eric densen innocent of all charges...

I read your(Robert Frost) account of what happened. It may not be illegal to do what you did, but it is cheezy at best to try to get(extort???) more money on top of a listed reward for something you had no more right to than anyone else in the world. THEY WEREN'T YOUR CUES!!

Nine ball for 3 or more

Good tips guys. We usually play teams, losers pay for table time(big money game). Sometimes we only have three so that's why I asked. Personally I love the 5 and 9 game, premium on the nine. Is there anyone that plays 3 or more and uses ball in hand? It doesn't seem fair to me but curious as to...

Nine ball for 3 or more

Did a search within and outside AZ with no luck. I remember years ago playing 9 ball with more than 2 people upon a scratch/foul the next player had to place the cue ball behind the head string as opposed to ball in hand that we used for 2 people. This was done to not give too big of an...

Why do some people get mad when you ask them to gamble?

    1. Always ask casual acquaintances to play 2. Never ask casual acquaintances to gamble 3. Maybe a $ game will happen, be prepared if it doesn't 4. To me losing hurts whether money is involved or not 5. Different topic touched upon here-never understood weight, If I can't beat a guy straight up I...

    determine your skill level drill.

Are there any skill level estimators when you're trying to make the last three, or four, or 5 balls in 9 ball as opposed to starting at the one and not necessarily making the money ball?

A lot of low opinions on 9 ball, me included, what about 8?

I'm guessing I'm somewhere around a c- player. I have run out 8 ball numerous times but have never run out 1-9 in 9 ball, thus I have much more respect for good 9 ball players than I do good 8 ball players.

    Gambling Table Etiquette

Pretty simple answer, really. Ask nicely and give ANY reasonable reason and the table is yours(no remuneration is necessary). Ask me like it is your god given right or nastily and you can wait til closing time.
