I am sure you can identify these cues (original Balabushka)

They Don't Make Them Like They Used To, Or Do They?

Lloyd Bennett used to work there and turn ivory cue balls. He also made pool cues...he made this one for me. https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/three-for-the-road.529253/#post-6927211

    A.E Schmidt tables

Damn good tables back in the day. I liked them better than Brunswicks.

    Cole Dickson's practice session routine

Ham radio has been around forever and ever. Radio is something I know about. I worked in and ran radio facilities that talked to planes all over the world. We provided radio communications for Air Force One and every other military aircraft (KC-135, SR-71, U-2, TR-1, P-3, B-52, B-1, RC-135...

    107 Breaks & 6 Chances

Does anybody else ever play on your table? If so, do they ever make a ball on the break?

SOLID GOLD: Interview With Richard Black. "From Wall Street to Billiards: Richard Black's Remarkable Rise to Hall of Fame Cue Builder"

I talked to him a couple years back to have him make me a shaft. He said Scott does that stuff now and he doesn't touch any cue less than $5000.

    Cole Dickson's practice session routine

There used to be a hippy that came in the pool hall where I worked and played as a kid. He used to always call me "Squirrel". I don't know where he got that from.

Shark Move Part 58 - Verbal Concession

I concede NOTHING. I DGAF if the game ball is hanging in the pocket and the cue ball is two foot away.

Capito Sports Bar - Angeles City

Here is a video of what that area looked like when I lived there and an old picture of Efren in one of the bars. Pool cue maker Mario Paras is to the left of Efren.

Who is the best player of the last 40 years not to win a major event?

I like the results of his shooting, but I don't like watching him play. There is something about his pumping bicycle stroke that bothers me. It works damn good for him, though.

Shark Move Part 58 - Verbal Concession

I was playing in ND state 8-ball bar table tournament and they had that patch BS where you put it by the pocket when you are shooting the 8 ball. We were playing hill-hill in a match and I break and run the table down to the 8 ball and it is a tapper. The patch is on the other end of the...

SOLID GOLD: Interview With Richard Black. "From Wall Street to Billiards: Richard Black's Remarkable Rise to Hall of Fame Cue Builder"

This was a treat for me. I just ran across this and I have known Richard since 1978, four years after he started making cues. He has made two cues for me and he once told me that I have called him from more countries in the world than anyone. I used to talk to him frequently.

Dynaspheres Tungsten 572 Pool Ball Set

What is the BEST cue ball to buy now? I have a Brunswick Blue Circle that I sometimes use when I play in one of the pool halls downtown, but it feels heavy compared to the ball sets that are used there. I don't know what set of balls they use...maybe a cheaper brand or set. I think I have...

    Treadway cues

In my opinion, the C-series were the best. They used a lot of old and exotic woods in those cues and that was back before they started using computers to do most of the stuff. I used to call the factory and talk to Jim McDermott a lot back in those days. I really liked him and he told me a...

    Treadway cues

There were several, if not many, of Richard's original 4-point veneered cues mistaken for and sold as Balabushka's. I had never heard of Richard Black until I came back to the USA from Taiwan in 1976. I was going to buy a Balabushka that went for less than $200 before he died in 1975, but the...

    Treadway cues

This was the photo Richard Black used for his catalog when I had him make the 4-point in 1978. $175 is what I paid for it. I wanted him to make the Hoppe for me, but he said he didn't want to make any more of them until he figured out what was causing them to make some sort of weird sound when...

This is the same model "Casino" Merry Widow cue I ordered from Richard in 1981, except mine had a black pigskin wrap.
