Who was all in on the infamous dumping at Challenge of Champions 1991?

Bernard Rogoff was one of the $200 bets, Jay. He told me about it, but by the time I made it to the Mirage the odds were dropped to 10-1. I was not 100% convinced that Bunny had the inside info & only bet a $100 at that point.

It would not be the first time you could bet on pool here in Las Vegas. Although the betting at the Mirage was a fiasco. Andy - Las Vegas

Los Angeles area players from the past

Chalk n Cue was not on Foothill Blvd, Jay it was on York Blvd. Funny that you & I are both from Los Angeles & ran in the same circles, but did not meet until the early 80’s if I remember correctly, here in Las Vegas. Andy - Las Vegas

Are you thinking of Doc White who took you to Watts, Bill? Doc & I ran together for about two years in Los Angeles in the late ‘70’s. He talked me into going to Compton one day for a big 3-Ball game. We end up $2,500 winners, but I never thought we would get out of the place. Somehow we did...

Los Angeles area players from the past

I enjoy visiting with Joe during the tournaments here in Las Vegas when he sets up his booth. He has more cues for sale than I can count. Takes him close to 90 minutes to set up & the same to break down each night. I bought a few of his cues in the last couple of years Andy - Las Vegas

No, I can’t remember the name of the walk down room you are taking about, Jay. I had been in it though numerous times. Pete’s was almost across the street from Bob’s Big Boy & there was a bar called The Scene with two bar tables next to that. Andy - Las Vegas

Los Angeles area players from the past

I worked in a pool room in Glendale, CA for a number of years in the 70’s, Jay. It was called Pete’s Family Billiards on Colorado Blvd across from Bob’s Big Boy. A number of good players were there on a daily basis. Dean “The Barber” Dill & “California Cal” Reynolds come to mind. Also Doc White...

Anyone else not like Ebony cues?

I love black & white cues. In 1991 at the International 8&9 Ball tournament at the Pheasant Run in St. Charles, IL, I saw Billy Incardona's new black & white Joey Gold cue. It was beautiful! Once I got back home to Las Vegas, I immediately went up to the South West Cues shop & told Jerry I...

    Favorite South West Wood Combinations???

Jerry Franklin was one of my best friends. We also played on the same pool team here in Las Vegas for years. He did indeed like Pau Ferro quite a bit. Here is one of my South West cues.
