I put that same one on my toilet. It seems to work really good. I mean, it' ain't rocket science but I like it.

WPA Addresses Ball Waxing During Matches

At least to the level that Aramith cleaner does, even when diluted with IPA. When local spots clean them with windex or just don't clean them, they don't play naturally. I think waxed and cleaned balls just play better and react how they should. I can adapt to anything but that doesn't mean it's...

    Cue Components under new ownership

I've done business twice with them. Everything was all good both times. I would have no problems ordering from them in the future when more supplies are needed.

Got tips for making tenon by hand?

I have the second old one. It does an ok job but it's difficult to get set up correctly. It's very easy to get an off centered tenon with it. I need to explore using it a bit more at some point. I didn't really have it correctly mounted so it's probably down mainly to user error. It may be a bit...

Got tips for making tenon by hand?

I fixed a bunch of "Viper" brand house cues for the local hall for practice. They were drilled out in an attempt to make them LD. They were really shitty wood and didn't hold up to the abuse of the environment. They basically split out the first 2-3" of the cues. I talked with the owner before...

    another shaft and pin size

I ran into this when I got my Rhino CF shaft. I went to put it on my Diveney which is 3/18-10 modified. It was SUPER tight. I screwed it onto my McDermott which is standard 3/8-10 and it fit perfectly. Much to my surprise I tried it again on my Diveney and it fit perfectly. Sometimes there's...

Got tips for making tenon by hand?

For doing it by hand I think you're probably on the right track. It's kind of a just nitpick the living hell out of it til you're satisfied type thing. Measure 500 times, cut/epoxy once.

What band saw for an aspiring cue maker?

I don't know much about band saws and I don't know what I don't know. I don't need "the best" to start with but I'd like one with some room to grow. In other words I'd rather not buy a bad one and have to replace it in a year. I would like to use one to take the corners off of square blanks so...

    Valley Table Rails

Yeah, Penguin rails significantly improve a Valley. Especially if you're dealing with old rails that may be dead or a table coming from an amusement company that may have mismatched rails. They often recover rails at their shop and do many at a time. This results in getting them mixed up and...

Do you think Pool is Fun?

Riding the 9 is one of life's great pleasures. Especially if you protect the CB. I like to call it ride and hide. You know you're doing good when your opponent starts praising the virtues of 10B! ;)

so i’ve decided to make cues

I'd imagine you could get a pillow bearing and a collet and it would steady it up well without breaking the bank. I'd be very wary of using that with the shaft unsupported at all. I mean, it works, but all it takes is one mistake to damage threads. I'm not poo-pooing your effort, just be really...

Do you think Pool is Fun?

It's fun if you have masochist tendencies. 🤣 Or alternately if you like to practice competition or mastery of something. There's always something to learn and improve upon. It's like a puzzle and you don't even realize there are pieces missing til you find them under the table or in the box...
