    getting to the next level

If you've only been playing a few months and you're breaking and running 10-20% of the time I'd just keep doing what you're doing. For me nothing replaces lots of mechanical practice and mental training for making considerable improvements in any task you're undertaking.

    New Shaft

They are: http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cueobsessions/lambros/lambros-ultra-shaft.htm I've emailed Greg from Billiard Warehouse and the shafts are custom made to order and will take 2-4 weeks if I decide to get one...

Pool Cue Repair in Northern NJ???

A guy named Ron Tarr did my work for me. He lives in Morris County and also travels to the many local tournaments in Hudson, Bergen and Morris Counties. I had him do my tips many times and he also converted a shaft to a phenolic tip/ferrule for me that has worked perfectly for years. I...

    New Shaft

Unfortunately Tuesday night is my league night and since I'm the main coach for timeouts, I don't like skipping out on those nights...

New game to try out, opinions wanted...

That doesn't sound easy at all... Going in order with all those blocking balls out there? Early in the rack could be torture. I guess one ball in hand, the a few balls get cleared out, but it definitely sounds like a hard game.

    New Shaft

Thanks for the offer, I shoot in a league on Tuesday nights, but have a bye on July 31. It would be fun to play in a cheap tournament and also get to hit with some different cues. I'll definitely stick with whatever I end up with for quite a while... If I can like a red dot for ten years, I...

    New Shaft

I've been kidding myself into liking the red dot for many years now but after hitting some long shots with a predator and having much better results hitting center pocket I've finally admitted that the red dot isn't very forgiving and doesn't result in much spin either basically giving it the...

    New Shaft

Thanks for the responses. I'm definitely resigned to the idea that the LD shaft may not be to my complete liking. I use mini-masse on shots to get around blocking balls pretty accurately and when I tried them with the Predator 314, the cue ball just tracked straight regardless of using the...

    New Shaft

So, I'm looking for shaft suggestions. I agree that going to a store and hitting them, and/or hitting my friends equipment to see how I like how it feels and such is the best way to go. On the other hand, I really have no place to demo any equipment seriously and my experience with different...

    Boston pool rooms.

I've had no such experience at World Class and I just discovered the hall about a month ago. I've been there at least ten times since and I go play on whatever table I feel like. That being said, none of the tables appear to be freshly refelted so perhaps that new period of felt is gone... I...

New low deflection shaft: Meucci Ultimate Weapon

Lots of Meucci hate here. I actually like the way my red dot hits. Go figure...

    Cue Weight Tolerances...

And from my side if I send them a cue back, I'm without the cue, have to deal with shipping it, then being here again to sign for the UPS delivery, etc... If they just send the bolts USPS, I pull rubber stopper off, I screw in weight bolts, I replace rubber stopper and it can't be any easier...

    Cue Weight Tolerances...

If I send it back I would expect they'll just add the weight bolt and ship it back, no? The weight bolts are on the way free of charge...

    APA Rule question.

Or a moron on the other team that makes up rules. :)

Question about APA rule and also a funny rule you might not know of.

As with all sports, the ruling of the referee trumps all written rules. I've mentioned it several times, and feel lame always mentioning it, but in Vegas at Nationals, my opponent clearly double hit the cue ball on a shot. The referee called out "good hit," which means that regardless of...

Value of developing a closed bridge...

Thanks for the insight. I think I'll start using it for the same type of shots that I would play lefty on, ie., really easy shots, and then start to expand from there. I think I've been making the mistake of trying to use it for as many shots as possible, or as many shots as someone who has been...

    Cue Weight Tolerances...

My playing experience is really pretty limited. I've only owned one decent cue, a Meucci HP that I got in 2001 with a red dot shaft. I'm an APA sl6 and there are probably some much better players here that could give a much more appropriate review than I could given my limited experience...

Question about APA rule and also a funny rule you might not know of.

I just switched from my laptop to my desktop in this thread. Is that a foul?

Value of developing a closed bridge...

I don't have any issue with the sliding of the cue when using a closed bridge. I just think the cue lines up slightly more to the inside of my body using a closed bridge making the aiming lines appear different to me when in shooting position and I'm unable to see the line of aim confidently. I...
