Have you tried walnut? I have cored plenty with walnut when I need a bit lighter. Glues well, hold a thread for pins, and is pretty damn light. Plus is a great tone wood, and have rather impressive shear strength. I have also heard of rain wood being used as a core in jump cues...but never...

There are a lot of lower priced cues that will break a ton. I remember some of my best were the cheap $40 Players sneaky pete and an old schmelke cue...both re-tipped with a harder tip. That would be my suggestion...but definitely think a white diamond tip is the way to go, over phenolic...

I couldn't agree more. Justin Bergman is a stud. He is nice, straight up, and stand up. From what I have seen, interacted, and read, he does his things, shares his thoughts, and puts hit heart into this game. I think he is a great model of the newer generation players in this country...

Wow...sounds like you know exactly what you want to end up with. Not sure why someone hasn't jump on this for you...sometimes knowing exactly what you want can be the easiest way to go..but leaves little flexibility for creative opportunities. If no one jumps on this...pm me and we can talk...

So...I got in my shop a few huebler sneaky Pete, one piece cues. The say Mark II on them, above the huebler logo. From the same guy I got a huebler break jump cue. Nothing fancy, all black, mop dots at break/jump joint and nylon insert in shaft. I didn't even know huebler made such items...
