What tournaments get included in the AZ Billiards people database

I am only a "D" player who plays mainly in leagues, APA, NAPL, & 14.1 leagues. Occasionally I play in tournaments, local house tournaments and tours such as the Predator & Tri-State. Just for a lark I put my name in the people search here at AZ Billiards. Never expected to ever be in it...

    E-Grip pool cue holder review

I use a shelf liner like some of the posters above. It works perfectly. In the past when I had cue holders I would sometimes leave it in the poolroom by accident. Now I buy a roll of shelf liner, if I leave it in a poolroom I just tear another piece off the roll!!

Anyone ever seen Russian Pyramid Billiards?

This weekend Tony Robles' Predator Tour was at Boardwalk Billiards in Brighton Beach Brooklyn. Brighton Beach is a very heavily Russian neighborhood of NYC. When I walked in I noticed a bunch of 12 foot snooker type tables. The owner said it was for Russian Pyramid Billiards. The balls were...

people interested to play 3 cushion or carom but think theres not a table near you

I'm not positive about Manhattan but there's definitely billiard tables in the outer boroughs which is just a subway ride away. Steinway, probably the most famous pool room has one. Carom, in Flushing has about 10 billiard tables. I know there's others I just cannot remember which. If you...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

Very frustrating 9 ball match last night. I am a D+ in first place playing Panos, who's in first in the other division, undefeated at 9-0. I got 2 games on the wire, I needed 6, Panos needed eight. Before I knew it I was down 7-1. He's on the hill and I needed 5 in a row. I was thinking it...

Does the cost of playing cue impact your game?

A shirt they were selling at the Expo says "It's not the cue, it's you", however I would think a low deflection shaft should help.

Shout outs to all the “Pool Dads”

I am 64 but my son is only 14. He played in the juniors at the Expo. My kids were never in Little League or football etc. so I didn't realize how exciting for a dad to watch his kids compete. He played a teenaged girl and went hill/hill in the third set (the expo tournaments were best 2 out...

Anyone know which pros are playing this year at the Expo?

Thanks Woody. It must have been recently posted as it wasn't there last week. Good to see Allison Fisher there. She wasn't there last year.

Trip Report: Skyline Billiards in Brooklyn

I have only heard good reports about the place. The only pool room I've been in Brooklyn is Gotham City and that was to play in the Predator. I'd like to go to Hall of Fame Billiards because I hear Jean Balukas owns it and works there and I always wanted to meet her. By the way, since we're...

    no one pocket at Expo

I'm disappointed too. That and the 3 cushion events were the only pro events that you didn't have to pay extra to watch.

    Opinions: Ball Return or NO

I do a lot of drills aiming for the same pocket and I don't want to empty the pockets every few shots so unless the drop pocket can hold 15 balls I'd rather have a ball return.

    Joined a Straight Pool league

I'm in two straight pool leagues one after the other in two poolrooms on Sundays: Sunday afternoon at Cue Bar in Queens NY then Sunday evening at Raxx in West Hempstead NY. I'm pretty much a "D" player so I'm the worst handicap in both but I love it. I'm also in two 9 ball leagues during the...

    Question regarding Jr Players Instruction?

Where are you located? I'm in the NYC area (Long Island) and would love to have someone give instructions to my 13 year old. (I'm 64 and set in my ways, not a good instructor, LOL) At last years Expo he met Jerry Breisath, who worked with him for a whole day with some good results. I'd like...

Show us your HOME ROOMS !!

My home room is whatever pool room I'm in at the time. Yesterday was Amsterdam Billiards. Monday was Cue Bar in Bayside, Queens. Sunday was both The Spot in Nanuet in the afternoon and Raxx at night!

    What Killed Straight Pool?

Coin operated bar tables killed or hurt straight pool. People started playing in bars and thought pool was eight ball.

    Must see poolrooms

Living on Long Island I like all the rooms in the NYC metropolitan area such as Steinway, Raxx, Bay Shore, Cue Bar, Carom,Gotham City, etc, however last year I went to Snookers in Providence to play in the Predator Tour and fell in love with the place. Really beautiful decor, sort of like the...
