    Ash grain type

This right here is why I love our online community. Your long-winded responses have been amazing. I respect the fact you're a cuemaker. I respect the fact you're humble enough to take the time out of your day and type out a response to me and I respect that you know what you're talking about...

    Ash grain type

So are you saying that wood with more grain is less dense and therefore perhaps more flexible? And thank you for your thoughtful reply.

    Ash grain type

Hey guys, I’m looking to buy a new cue and I’ve been looking at Maximus cues And I was wondering if anyone has noticed a difference In ash chevron grain. Do you guy think if the grain is further apart Does this mean the wood is less dense meaning the cue would be a lower Deflecting cue? And...

    Best tip for z3?

Thanks for the reply man, I think I may have posted this in the wrong area but I've never tried ultra. Are ultra skins and G2 the same company? I may have to give it a go. I've just ordered some of pooldawg8's milkduds bc I had one long ago that was amazing and I've tried kamui black ss and...

    Best tip for z3?

Hey guys, does anyone else here play with a z3 and know of a good tip to use with it? I was using a Zan Grip Hard which I absolutely loved at first. I am looking for a tip that gives really good feedback. I really dont care if it's hard or soft I know how to adapt to both and I do like a tip I...

    OB121 VS Predator Roadline

I got the OB121 with the classic+ shaft. Loved the shaft, there will never be one better for me personally. But the cue was so butt heavy and unbalanced I am selling it. :frown: They put steal all the way down the butt of the cue for weight cartridge threading, which wasn't even stainless. I am...

    Ash Shafts vs Maple?

just curious about the price and btw I am jealous. I've always wanted to get an ash shaft. Tried to contact John Parris but no luck. how much do you think Paul would charge for a 12.5mm ash 3/8x10 and I'm asking you on the off chance maybe you got something close to that? As far as what to...

Question about OB Classic+ and OB-1+

Yeah that is my understanding as well about the OB 1&2 but I am thinking the classic is solid the whole way through with the carbon fiber pad at the front of the ferrule. Anyone who knows for sure you're definitely welcome to speak up.

Question about OB Classic+ and OB-1+

I hope you get your answer about the classic+ as this is the same question I've had on my mind for a while too. If you want a more solid feeling 12.5 shaft that offers low deflection and good feedback you should check out the Mezz collection. If I could afford one I'd get one in a heart beat...

Question about OB Classic+ and OB-1+

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but the classic doesn't have a hollowed out core in the front end like the 314 does. So the classic would hit more solid in theory, and therefore might have a more crisp feel.

Question about OB Classic+ and OB-1+

I literally just logged on wanting to know the answer to this exact question. Personally, if feel is important to you I'd just focus on the OBs. Predators lack feel in my experience, and my Z2 hits pretty weak IMO. I also realize the 314 is very different but I wasn't that impressed when I tried...

The most naturally talented pool players that you have ever known?

IMHO: Ronnie O'Sullivan, without question is one of the greatest talents to ever shoot billiards. His precision and fast playstyle is unmatched anywhere in the billiard world. Don't believe me, watch him play 9 ball, he makes it look absurdly easy. He would dominate every match he entered if he...

Advice on shafts with low throw?

Yeah it's easy to refute speculation. When I was talking about full obj ball contact I was saying this was a theory of mine. I wasn't trying to pass it off as fact. If you can disprove my last post about kinetic friction that would actually be impressive. If you disprove hundreds of years of...

Advice on shafts with low throw?

ok, static friction was a misnomer on my part, but there is way more friction with a cut shot, that can't even be debated. To find your answer you need to know what kinetic friction is, and what causes it. Say youre using outside english spin induced throw. And let's say youre cutting a shot to...

Advice on shafts with low throw?

Yeah I just changed the tip from an everest to one of pooldawg8's milk duds. It hits super solid like a hard and grips the cb like no other I've ever had. And also, I can run racks out without needing to rechalk which is pretty sweet. Maybe those duds just generate way more spin than I am used...

Advice on shafts with low throw?

Thanks so much for this. I was starting to think this thread was going no where. What you said about the lack of feel in the i3 is ironic that they would advertise this shaft as their "feel" shaft and the i2 as their "control" shaft. I definitely dont like dead hits so thank you for telling me...

Advice on shafts with low throw?

Well, since you asked, I have a very straight stroke and it's not like I'll be doing this with the obj ball very far away. That's why I'll take an avg of 5 hits at each cut. Heck, I'll probably do a lot more than 5, just figured 5 was a good base. Also, instead of aiming for a spot on the ball...

Advice on shafts with low throw?

Agree completely. I played with my buddy's meucci play cue the other day and for same crazy reason he has a phenolic tip on it. Although I couldn't draw as well and had to rechalk after every hit I was spinning balls in so well I didn't even have to worry about getting good position. It's...

Advice on shafts with low throw?

I wonder how close the Alpha is to a mcdermott I-2? They sound like very similar designs. I am sure the mezz is higher quality but I'd be curious about the hit and feel. I wish the WD700 was just a tad thicker, as I would prefer a shaft closer to 13mm than 12.5.

Advice on shafts with low throw?

Challenge accepted. I will set up a 1/4 ball, 1/2 ball, and 3/4 ball cut shot 1 diamond by 1 diamond away from a corner pocket I will place a chalk mark where I place the cue ball and a chalk mark in front of the obj ball where I need to aim. I will do 5 shots each time at the same speed, same...
