After more than 30 years, I came upon the perfect fix for the broken score marker springs that will last a lifetime and cost $2 a table to repair. If there is any interest, I will be happy to take pictures and share the repair with everyone.

I'm interested in seeing the repair. Thanks.

While we wait for the OP to come back, I fixed my broken springs by buying a few spring clips for picture frames at the local art store. Used needle nose pliers to bend them into shape. Lifetime fix? I doubt it, although a lifetime is an imprecise unit of time. The ones listed below cost 5 cents each, can't remember what I paid, might have been 10 cents and I went wild and bought ten.

Thanks for your patience. I have been very busy.

Go to the fastener drawers at any Lowes. A package of eight 1/2" nylon clamps cost $1.04. The SKU numbers are shown bellow in a picture. I did my entire poolroom for under $25. Make sure you get the 1/2". It is the only size that will work if the number is to lock in and center in the scoremarker window.

Cut the clamp as shown in the picture with a Dremel or a utility knife. If you make a mistake, don't worry about it. These clamps are cheap. When you go to set the screw, there is some play. Move the cut nylon piece backword or forward at the screw so that it sets properly on the wheel and the numbers center in the scoremarker window.

Good luck. This is just too easy. I did my tables three years ago. They work perfectly. There has been no fatigue in the nylon material. The tension is just right. They actually work better than the metal springs.

Nice job, thanks for sharing!!! Many of us have these old Gold Crowns and love them. The only way mine is going anywhere is to pry it from my dead, cold hands.

Like it. Thanks for the idea..

It has been a year since I posted this score marker spring solution. Has anyone used it? It would be interesting to know. The markers on my 20 Gold Crowns are working fine.
