I'm playing this guy some cheap 1p. He proposed 1p for small amount a game and I agree since I feel we are a good match. We start playing and I get up 3 games right off the bat so he asks to adjust which I agree and we play 8-7. After about 3 hours I'm up 7 games and let him know the I only can play a few more games and he goes off on me telling me I should have told him sooner and I'm robbing him. I thought I was given him enough notice that I could only play a few more. He could have asked for more of a spot or raised the bet and I would have as long as it wasn't crazy. He is the one that suggested everything- that we play, that we play 1p, that we are going to gamble and the amount, and then when he is down and suggests a spot I agree. How did I do anything wrong?

That grey area between the two extremes is so much harder to define. I think at that point (after 3 hours and several adjustments) it just becomes about the money and the hurt pride and diminished pocketbook of the loser.

I think you did the right things. You are being quite favorable to him by succumbing to his spotting requests. He shouldn't have gotten upset. He may have been trying to rattle you....so, he could turn the tables.

forget the rest

we all have a different level of importance attached to chump change;

Remember that and you can forget the rest. Some people will cut their own mother's throat for a dollar, some people will put their last dollar on the light like it is toilet paper. Best to have some idea of the type of person you are dealing with up front.

Being male and dating from an ice age or two ago, things sometimes got physical when disagreements over the bet or continuing came up. The biggest uproars, fights, and even the most bloodshed was over the smallest bets.

He did make me feel bad and I sold out in the last game to give him a chance to win it.

Well, next time, don't get rattled. Stay composed. Being able to handle shark tactics will make you a better pressure player.

When you are playing black jack at the casino and you are winning, if the dealer talks smack to you, are you just going to get rattled and start laying down???..........your answer should be....hell no.

I bet if you stomped on this guy really hard, he probably would have quit. Selling out just makes him want to play more.

well I figured he would shut up alittle and keep him looking for action with me. It wasn't about getting rattled it was more so he didn't do something stupid like take a swing at me. Not that I'm a big tough guy or anything bit I would have hurt him had it come to that. At that point to give a game back to smooth things over and keep the spot were it is I thought was a good choice. I just could not believe his reaction this guy is always in cheap action and thought I was following the unwritten law. he could have asked to adjust again and or raised the bet and still had a few games to get even.
thanks

DOnt people do freeze outs anymore....i think it is pretty much accepted that if you say "lets play 10 per rack and freeze 100" that after that 100 is won the "gambling" is over, and at that point a new negotiation can take place or either player can walk
