Thoughts on First Carom Cue - 11-13-2019, 11:13 AM

I have been playing 3-Cushion more and more, I am looking at getting a dedicated carom cue. I have been playing with a break cue with a modified tapered shaft.
There are no stores in my area that carry any carom cues for me to try. So I have been reseraching and looking for a starter/first time carom cue. Less than $400.

Any thoughts on:

LONGONI CAROM CUE BLACK FOX WITH WRAP

https://longonicue.com/product/longo...ar-suede-wrap/

The wooden joint has been around for a long time it seems and looks to be very common.

Thanks for your input or any suggestions.

this one i bought, but the 11mm tip version for carom

https://store.kozoom.com/en/taco-de-...egro-2334.html

at about 60 dollars total, shipped from france with a threaded wood pin,
there is no greater steal on this earth

and the one i have plays jam up, and isnt warped, joint is a 100 percent PERFECT fit

This one is going to stick around with me,
Its all anyone really needs to play carom, anything else your just paying for looks and a name brand, and there nothing wrong with that

Pardon my ignorance, and not to derail, but what makes it a carom cue? I saw on that last link you posted it mentioned "different characteristics" than pool cues...

Generally
Shorter length
lighter weight
smaller dia tip than pool cues
Usually a straight, conic taper

Don't forget that carom cues have a bigger butt diameter than a regular pool cue!

I agree with both of Richard's points:

1) Many of those 'cheap' Kozoom cues play real fine

2) Kilby cues are fantastic and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better affordable custom stick
