US OPEN POOL CHAMPIONSHIP POSTPONED
The 2020 US Open Pool Championship and US Open Junior Pool Championship have been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. New dates will be announced in due course.

Matchroom Pool, together with MGM Resorts, has taken this decision with the health and safety of players, spectators and staff as the paramount concern and following the extension of the United States ban on arrivals from European countries to now include the United Kingdom and Ireland.

I think WPA "unilateral" cancellation of WPA Players championship - the warm up event to US Open may have made it even more difficult for MR not to postpone US Open https://wpapool.com/wpa-players-championship-cancelled/
Strangely, CSI did not mention the cancellation even though they are the organiser

Well, there was also the problem of getting all the staff from the UK exemptions and through quarantine or whatever is required now from Europe.

But yes, I imagine that even in Las Vegas a gathering of more than 50 largely international travellers is a concern for the hotel.

The fact that it's closed might also have something to do with it. Mandalay Bay will be closing tomorrow. It's an MGM property.

This is the 9-ball event (U.S. Open 9-Ball) that is organized by Matchroom. I think that CSI is only peripherally involved with the decisions if at all.

If US Open postponed to later this year, that probably means Matchroom's World 9 Ball (they call is World Pool Championship now) in October will be postponed to next year
