What's Earl doing?

I'm watching the Hong Kong Challenge match on google video.

Scroll ahead to 20:50 of this section. Focus on Earl's right elbow as he pockets the nine. It looks like he applies swooping backhand english on the shot.

He's just being a little lazy there reaching out over the table. He lined up too much on the line of the object ball contact point and has to move over some on his last stroke. If you notice there is no swerve on the previous shot. Earl generally shoots with a very straight stroke, and so does Efren. I wouldn't read too much into that one shot.

It's been a while since I got to see those two get after it "back in the day".
Geez - when Earl's "A" game offense was in gear - nobody stood a chance. What a machine! Nothing against Efren, of course. When he brought out the A game defense and his offense - you better have something special in your bag...

Looked to me he hit the cb dead center.
You can see a few more instances in this match where Earl seemed he spun the cue in his follow thru.

Can you guys explain his stroke?

It looks like at the address his hand is already well into the follow through.

I'm still trying to figure out how his hand goes forward at the end, rather than in an arc. His tip doesn't drop after contact.

Ok, watching him again, he drops his elbow.
