Best format for a 9 ball league

I have a friend that wants to start a 9 ball league. Looking for ideas, especially the team size, 3, 4, or 5 person teams?

Any other thoughts, comments are well appreciated.

Why not do a singles league instead of teams?

The singles league is a great idea. Years ago I played in a ladder league and it was a lot of fun without the hassle of being at the room all night or not having players show up.

I suppose one thing you need to decide is will the format be one where players play individual games against various players on the opposing team, or races against one opponent.

I like 3 man teams with more games......
