More specifics on the "incident" in question are needed, imo.

I personally don't like cell use during matches, unless there's an emergency.

During the captain's meetinng at the start of the team event, the director told us that if you even look at your cell phone during a match, you forfeit the game. So no calls, no texts, no looking to see sports updates, no nothing...

my #1 pet peeve...

if you are playing pool....or even practicing pool...... your focus must be 1000% on the BALLS......

the reason pool is declining is because it requires actual FOCUS .. you don't need to tweet to your buddy in Frankfurt.. that your up 1 game in a race to 11....

you need to focus on winning 11 games.....

or whats worse ... they play safe....

go sit down and get into a text.. fest... with someone...??? I don't even know???.... usually a pissed off woman... bad scene in any setting..

I play a spectacular safe..... nail it 6 ways from Sunday....

they finally put their toy down..

look at me and say

"Are you going to shoot?"

BCAPL Rules prohibit cell phone use

Galveston was played under BCAPL Rules. BCAPL Rules 1.3.2-3 apply:

2. You may not wear any electronic headgear or use any electronic device during a match. Examples include, but are not limited to:

a. Headphones, earphones, or electronic earplugs, including Bluetooth accessories, whether turned on or not. Hearing aids are permitted.
b. Cell phones, pagers, or music devices. Cell phones may be worn on the belt or kept in pockets, but may not be accessed for messages or conversations at any time during a match by singles or scotch doubles players, or during your game in team play. You must turn off all audible ringers and other notification tones while on the event floor. Emergency communications are permitted at any time.

3. Violation of this rule is a foul.

Local modifications concerning the penalty may or may not have been made.

The BCA does not edit nor is responsible for the content of the World Standardized Rules. The Official Rules of the BCAPL is a separate and independent set of rules and, to avoid confusion, should not be referred to as "BCA Rules".
* Since 2004, there is no such thing as a "BCA Referee". The BCA no longer has any program to train, certify or sanction billiards referees or officials.
* The BCAPL has no association with the Billiard Congress of America other than in their capacity as a member of the BCA.
* The BCAPL has not addressed every imaginable rules issue, nor will it ever likely be able to, as evidenced by the seemingly endless situations that people dream up or that (more frequently) actually happen. If I do not have the answer to a question I will tell you so, then I will get a ruling from the BCAPL National Office and get back to you as soon as I can. If deemed necessary, the BCAPL will then add the ruling to the "Applied Rulings" section of The Official Rules of the BCA Pool League.

At the Lincoln City BCA regional 9 ball tourney last October is was repeatedly announced that any player having a cell phone ring during a match suffered the penalty of ball in hand to his opponenet.

I didn't hear many cell phones.

SNooker Tourney

A friend of mine from the UK told me that last year in the Worlds Snooker Tourney, (NO ONE, from the spectators to the players, is allowed to use a cell phone in the arena), A phone rang and the spectators phone was confiscated, and he was escorted from the arena ...permanently >> he was not allowed to return!!
