old thread, but here are the technical drawings for this lathe:

Very cool. I suspect the original designer/builder is a machinist of some kind. A few of the parts look like they need to be custom milled. Having built a lathe it would seem to me that getting the spindle (the part that holds the straight-shank ER collet chuck) properly aligned with the bed ways would be one of the most difficult parts of the build.

my russian isn't top notch, but he writes that some parts are laser cut and that the round pillow blocks are tig-welded. he obviously made 5 or so of those lathes and sold but found that demand was to low to continue making them
