Which one?? They both got more moves than Mayflower. Hoppe's cue looks like a cottonmouth swimming into impact. You can't(or wouldn't) teach that for sure. LOT of natural ability and a LOT of table-time.
Sure had some short ferrules on those old cues. LD maybe?

Yes, carom players long before had LD technology and very short ferrules.
It's what they needed because they never play a ball without spin.
It only took odd 40 years for the pool guys to realize that it also would help their game.
Mind you, these are carom players and their stance usually is quite different.
But oh yes, this wobbling about... not nice to watch.
Greatest player? Hum, not sure! Ceulemans and Jaspers, yes!
