Is there a set part of the cue that is adjusted when they lengthen it or does it vary from cue maker to cuemaker? I am getting my sw order increased to 60' and just got curious about it. Thanks for the infošŸ˜Š

Depends, most cues are 29"/29" and if you order a 59" cue most likely the cuemaker will just add an inch to the shaft, unless you specify a 29.5"/29.5" split when ordering the cue. 60" cues are almost always 30"/30" and I've never seen a 29" butt with a 31" shaft but I'm sure someone out there built one this way.

If it is a new cue the shaft and butt are usually the same length.

that is not the way sw cues are made
the butt and shaft are not the same length

i believe the shaft is slightly longer

i could be wrong

regardless they play so good

Yes -- butt 28 3/4" + shaft 29 1/4" = 58"

Great information, glad to see someone who knew what the hell they were talking about chimed in. Definitely learned something, thank you.

Equal is the standard but I have seen longer buts and longer shafts to make the change. It depends on the people involved

Jerry Franklin worked with david kersenbrock
two really invenive and scientific minds

Jerry explained to me the reasoning in the longer shaft

it made no difference on the hit,
but the South west joint pin was long and
this allowed them to fit in the case easier

so if you want a 60 inch cue and order2inch
longer shafts it won't affect the hit and you might want to shorten the shafts later

incidentally,I had a 60 inch long SW and I loved it,but most prefer 58
so if resale is a consideration 58 is worth more as a rule
