Good point. Manhattan is certainly no place for a bargain hunter.

Just for grins, I checked the sandwich prices at a few Delis we used to frequent
on trips to the city... a Reuben will set you back close to $30 for the sandwich ALONE.
6 bucks for a cola, 9 for fries.

$12/hr table time is a deal by comparison.

Behold, the Carnegie Reuben: http://www.erestaurant.com/new-york/carnegie-deli.html Just 30bux. Probably feed 3-4 people. Or me. THAT'S a sandwich.

When Super Billiards Expo was hosted in Edison NJ, down the road was Harold's Deli. Their sandwiches were similar size (feeds 1-3) for $28-$32 and $60-$65 for extra large (feeds 4-7). So along with bigger table sizes, 9' footers, maybe those sandwich sizes and prices are the norm for this area.

Spent some time in NYC when I was a kid....there were a gazillion rooms....
...and there was a ton of straight pool players who could run a couple hundred...
...and would play for $5 a game....it was a great place to be then.

NYC is great for pool in general.

There's tons of rooms everywhere and good action if you find it.

Tri-State Tour and Predator Pro-Am Tour is a great tour for amateurs who want to improve their game in the Tri-State area.

Tri-States actually starts tomorrow at a Rockaway Billiards in Rockaway, NJ.

Is it possible to find players who would shoot together and share table time? Can't afford to gamble ,just wanna practise shooting . Will be visiting NY mid Aug, can travel to both Amsterdam or Steinway. Do shoot me a PM if anyone wanna shoot and keep the cost down. Casual C player here

Had a blast at Steinways yesterday. It is very cool to be a part of the NYC pool scene even if only for a few hours. Skyler Woodward is showing his ability to play on tight 9fters under pressure, and Darren is learning how to promote and run big time tournaments.

We are lucky to have Darren and the folks helping him to put these tourneys together, it is not easy.

In my opinion Klenti Kaci played played about as good as anyone his age ever has. Klenti shows that he has what it takes to make it to the elite levels of the sport.

Jim-You are in arguably the greatest city in the world.
There are other things besides pool rooms.
