Amber, Lithuania, Ziggy, Will and Bob - 09-21-2019, 09:27 AM

Good Morning Guys..
Here is a old video I made, about 2008.. 10 years ago. Wow
I thought I'd post it for something to watch this morning ..
Link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bw1x...4EFA55&index=3

A long time ago,
Ziggy contacted me for a Cue Cap with a Lithuania Flag, Amber, for his Bob Owen Cue.

Ziggy's Bob Owen Cue is now in The Will Prout Collection..

This CueCap Video shows how Ziggy's Cue Cap was made..
Kinda fun to watch..
Thank you Ziggy, Will and Bob Owen.
Thanks for viewing..
Alton

Got my other Cue Cap Videos on my You Tube Cue Caps Channel too.

Snake Wood Points - 09-23-2019, 10:08 AM

Hey Guys.
Since no one is posting..
To much haters and boycotters..
So, I post, or, there's nothing. Right?

Here is some Snake Wood Points.

When doing small items with Snake Wood, or, any other item with character,
it's hard to capture it's features. I was lucky to get this Snake Wood Bar with lots of small "Eyes"..
Look at the Snake Wood Points. If it was regular Snake Wood, the Points would have just blotchy black spots.
No Snake Wood looks/appeal.

They are to be slid into v slots of the same angle of the Points.
15 degree Snake Wood, 30 Degree for the Resin Xory Points.
They are not "Inlayed".. As, there is no real true "Pocket", or, "Nest".
They are not "Spliced in", as, Standard Cue Points are done.
The method is used so I can cut the tendon at the base/bottom section of the points,
then, slide the Joint Ring Assembly over that tendon, having a nice clean cut Mating face between the Body and the Joint Ring assembly.
No need to control the inlay pocket size.

So much work to prep and bring all of this to reality.
from an idea/vision in my head, to the actual piece you and I can hold and look at..
Art is so satisfying.. But, it is sad, that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"..

Think about that..

Hi Alton,

Yep, I still have this great cue and outstanding cue caps set......just love it!
I actually showed Rhoda the video again just 3-4 days ago (great minds think alike)!
And then pulled out the cue and enjoyed a couple racks of pool with it.

By the way, your video is really, really well done and provides some rather significant
insight into the complexities of making fancy cue caps.
It is certainly difficult to make them as flawlessly as you do, but it is equally difficult to
visualize the work to be done, before you ever even start!

Well done, on all fronts!
Thanks for sharing!

Alton,
I just went to www.cuecaps.com and spent an hour of unbridled pure enjoyment
looking at the cue caps (along with the cue) that you have made and placed on your site.

This site and body of work are as amazing as any hall of fame cuemaker.
By the way, most HOF cuemakers could not make the caps you challenge yourself to do,
and some who could make them would never take on the many hours of thought and labor.

The video of Ziggy’s cue caps gives a simple glimpse into your world of complexity.
Purely and thoroughly amazing. Magical.
You are to be commended for your unique contributions to our genre.
Your work will last in perpetuity.
My deepest appreciation.

Will Prout

Alton, I have seen a number of finely crafted joint protectors but very few rise to the level of your mastery.

I continue to be amazed at your design creativity.

Please continue to provide us with examples of your skills.
