Fancy woven thread wrap!!!!!!

This wrap was done by expert fishing rod builder Kevin Mieras of St. Paul Minnesota. The cue is a simple Auerbach cue that was chosen for the great color in the cocobolo. These wraps can literally have a mile of thread in them. It take a lot of hours to do this as Jack Justis can attest. Jack has done these wraps in the past with extreme detail.

this is EXTREMELY unique and intricate. very nice looking imo.......WOW!....

remind me of a wrap for a fishing rod

How does thast feel? Like the wrap on a fishing rod? very pretty, would seem strange under my hand I would think ...

As a former member of the Rodcrafters of America Association I have always wondered why there were not more cue wraps done this way. The possibilities are almost endless. They can be done so they are as smooth as any linen and you can use all sorts of thread colors and styles. Silk is also a common thread used in custom rod wraps.
Great way of accenting the look of a cue!

fish wrap

Looks great! I've made quite a few custom fishing rods... and not many people know that case maker Jack Justis is very respected for his fishing pole work as well. He has created (published) many wrap designs. Very unique look. Did your guy put a clear coating over it for protection or is the cue solely made for display?

That is one of the prettiest wraps I have seen in a LOOOOONG time. I have asked about Justis wraps similar to this in a past thread and got virtually no response.

rod/cue wraps

I've talked to him a couple times about his wraps. If you get a chance to look up Dale Clemens books on custom rod building, he mentions Mr. Justis in his first and second book. I believe there are quite a few wrap designs in the book that Mr. Justis designed.

Thanks for the reply, Jack. The bottom wrap would look great on a "Thunderbird" or "Phoenix" design cue. These are beautiful.
