If someone has some idea's on cue design and has drawn some detailed pictures where would the correct thread or topic be to display those for feedback?

I am planning on making a conversion cue,but not your ordinary conversion,I have located a new (1992) Spain blank with maple spliced into the bottom of the prongs -extremly rare) and i wanted some feedback on some stuff as this cue will be pricey($2500 for the blank and between $5,000-$7,000 for the rest of the work-depending how much work we decide on doing and if it will be either Andy&Vicki doing it or someone like Schick or Ernie doing it.

Either way-when its all said and done I will have a cue that is going to run me between $7,500-9,500/10k. That said the cue SHOULD be worth AT LEAST what I payed for it to be built, obviously over time it should bring upwards of 25% more than I pay for it-considering Burton Spain made blanks for Bushka and other top builders of the era.

But in all reality, when finished it will still be a four point cue. Wrapless-with tons of ivory will help the value of the cue,but if 30years down the road I decide to part with it IMHO the main thing that will help the resale of the cue is who did it.

The ultimate situation is this: the Spain blank is the very last one he did.ever. with a LOA that comes with it,now since Bill and Ernie are not getting anu younger how sweet would it be if it was the last cue either one of them did?

Historic cue-for sure

But would this cue be worth 10k?
Dont be shy guys, but honest ,because i am close to pulling the trigger, already talked to the Spain blank owner,Andy and could call both Ernie or Bill anytime,I just dont want to waste their time, until I've made up my mind

Seriously looks like lots of other cues, and remember that nostalgia is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

You seem really bent on this is the last blank, and wouldn't it be neat if it was Bill or Ernie's last stick.

If you're a collector, then get the blank and draw up what you want, get the stick made.
If you're trying to make a lot of money, who knows what cues bring in 30 years. Who knows what kind of pool is around in 30 years.

Well to be honest NO I am not even thinking about it to just turn around and flip it for a profit, I am just simply saying why pay 2500 for a blank and then another5-7K to have it converted by ONE of the TOP cue makers,if I cant get AT LEAST that back out of it.

I agree it would look like alot of other conversions-in the aspect of it having four points and a hoppe ring, other than that they are way different.

Not very many blanks have the maple splice still attached, have that color of veneer pattern and are wrapless with gaint silver trimmed ivory spears, giant ivory trimmed radial knotched boxes with engravings maybe,or make it a tribute cue, something like that would be
pretty rarw. To high end collectors and the billiard history guys would love the cue and realize the historical significance of the cue and value it pretty high in my estimates. But if its made it wont be made to sell instantly for a profit.

If I really was obsessed with it being one of Schick or Ernies cues I could simply give it to one of them and tell them to hold on to it forever and do it as their last cue-

Most cuemakers would probably be honored to use Burton Spain's last spliced forearm a ebony four pointer, after designing and loading its with ivory and silver.

It would be something never done before, and there can only be one of them ever.

Buy the blank, get all the authentication paperwork that you can and store it. I got a feeling that if you rush into having it converted that you will regret it down the road. Think it over for a few years, it's not likely to go down in value.

The question is if the cue is worth $10K to you. There are no guarantees how collectors and players will value the cue in the future.
