Chris Byrne.... another beauty from Chris
About the cueI am happy to had the opportunity to add this cue into my collection. The cue itself is gorgeous and built with taste but it has a great story behind.
The cue belonged to Don Owen, a silent partner in OB Cues who recently passed.
The rings are sterling silver bordered around gold mother Pearl. The inlays are ivory, gold lip mother of Pearl and copper. The squiggly lines coming out from the inlay in the butt sleeve are a synthetic ivory. He originally made them with ivory, but they didn’t look crisp on the end where they got so thin so he switched over to the synthetic for those particular pieces.
The rings have a .005in border of silver around them with the center being gold lip mother of pearl.
This was the only cue Chris had to bring to the show to submit. He had hoped to complete a different one that was was being built for Steve Piesner(who was great and important collector) that ultimately never got done.
Being invited into to ICCS was a big ambition for Chris and he is proud to have the certificate hanging in his shop. It’s pretty cool when people come in and see it. There are many great cuemakers out there but not a lot that get a room of high end collectors to invite you in and ask for you to build “the big stuff “ for them.
