I am giving myself a big "Congrats" today for achieving 1,000 views
with my 14.1 Instructional video part II. I hope that it has helped many players out there. I have only posted it here on the Forum. So, I feel that reaching 1,000 views is saying something.

Definitely watched that on more than one occasion. Videos like that are a tremendous aid to the younger generation of amateur straight pool players, thanks and congrats!

Congratulations

Job Well Done, Mike.

I realized we have new players in all our leagues in Chicago. I think I will send out an email blast with all your instructionals to acquaint the newer players with the right way to play the game.

Nice job Mikey, good way to pay it forward to an up and coming player in showing them the ropes on how to play 14.1 correctly.

Now quit stalling and do your next video :grin::eek:

hell yeah!!! :grin-square:

Congrats Mike, that really does say something. That you did a great job I guess and hit the nail when you came up with this idea.

Add another to it,,,I have been attempting to learn this game. It is brutal if your not hitting them good. I can't seem to beat the 42 I did the first day I played it in the last 15 years.
But I have the 30's figured out!!! lol

Thanks

Thanks so much for all the comments. Yes, "flash5153" the game is "Brutal" but also a beauty. That's why there are so many 9-ball players (they only want to deal with a few balls on the table at a time). 14.1 is the best game within the Sport. It will teach a player how to play the other games better.

BTW - now that I figured out how to save vids to my ipad, I have yours on there now too!

Thanks so much for sharing!

congrats

Love the walkthru - enjoyed the 2nd rack and the K9 interlude... I have that same dog shark. Wish I would have had video running when my german shorthair grabbed a ball off the table what I was hitting the beer fridge.

...anyway, thank you very much for this posting and big congrats on the 1k views!

Tony

Over 1,100

Well, no one seems to be writing on the 14.1 Forum. So, I might as well bump myself.....LOL..... just went over 1,100 views. Thanks..... Hey, I promise not to do this any more..... Changing the subject, my new goal is to start hitting the practice table more often & get my number up on that 2013 list.

You must be one of the "Pool Gods"

I'd kill to have your game.

You must be one of the pool "Pool Gods", because regular guys just don't play like that.

How long did it take you to get to pool heaven?

Your game is so strong, it could wipe out whole villages of pool players.

Please, please continue to lead us down the path to pool glory.

Best regards,

Thanks so much. The comment is funny but i really appreicate it. I love the part about" wipe out whole villages of pool players"....LOL.... Yes, sometimes I can play like "Ragnar" and send other players to "Valhalla" but than there are times that the little negative man inside my head gets the best of me. Those are the times that I beat myself. Something I am working on.

What cloth do you play on?

14.1 Straightman,

When I practiced on my home table today, I was suddenly aware of what a planned slow roll or subtle bump can achieve.

After watching your videos, I realized that my game lacked detailed objective planning and prediction. I've been getting by on my shot making ability. Thanks to your instructional videos I am more aware of the other aspects of the high run.

Some questions:

What cloth do you play on?
How many shots ahead do you normally think about?
Your ability to pot balls is awesome. What aiming system do you use?
I know it's relative but, how long have you been playing (14.1)?

You are on the right track....

1):I have Simonis 860 cloth on my table. I have tried other brands of cloth but found that the 860 cloth is the best.

2);As for how many shots do I think ahead. That is hard to answer. Sometimes, I can see the whole 14 balls right after the break shot. Other times it is one to two balls depending if there are clusters to break up. Don't worry about that so much. Concentrate on pocketing a ball & playing position on another ball, keeping in mind angles in-order to send the cue ball into clusters, if need be. Never play area position, always play to get onto another ball.

3); Aiming system.... LOL.... It's called:"Old School".... I do not use a aiming system. I look at a ball & know where to hit it.

4): I have played pool from 13 to 17yrs old. Then, I did not play again until I was 30 when I got married and was able to buy a house, buying a table. For many years, I just played at home by myself only practicing 14.1 b/c that is the game that my older brother taught me when I was a kid & it was the only game that was on TV at the time. Also, 14.1 is the only game that I do not get bored while practicing. I finally joined a league approx 25 years ago (8-ball & 9-ball in the summer) and only play once a week. Just these past few years a 14.1 league has started here and I play in that too (once every two weeks or so).

Good Luck to you. I wish you well in Life & your game. Always feel free to send me a PM and ask questions or just to give me a update on yourself.

Learning "The Beautiful Game"

Thanks again for posting the very informative and instructive videos.

I've watched countless (14.1) matches on youtube. However, watching a run and being told what is going to happen beforehand is far more enjoyable and educational.

You sir, play "The Beautiful Game" beautifully.

Best regards,
