I am looking for a 1/16" router collet for my Porter cable 7301 trim router.
Does anyone know where to get one or if there is even such a thing?

!/16" collet

If you check the Dremel line you could find a collet your searching for. It won't be a collet you can use directly in to your P/C router but you should be able to come up with an configuration that will work. Sears & Homedepot have a good collection of Dremel items to possibly suit your needs.

Never seen any end mills or router bits with a 1/16" shank. Most of the micrograin carbide cutters are 1/8" shank. 1/4"-1/8" reducers are readily available. I'd suggest going to them and forgetting about an oddball size like that, if that's what you actually have.

I have a bunch of #56 dental carbide mills, they are much cheaper than 1/8 shank bits, (less than $1 per bit) and I think is what the Hightower machine uses but it uses a dremel for inlays. I have a pantograph that uses the Porter cable.

Sometimes it doesn't pay to save money like that.

They are 1/32 carbide end mills, they just have a 1/16 shaft instead of 1/8. They work just as well, I just have to find a way to mount them in the router instead of a Dremel :) But yes it is worth it, and if I find a collet ill probably continue to use them as they are much cheaper, and im sure you know how easy they break :)

I have been using them for 10 years which is why I have a bunch of them, I haven't made any cues in a couple years and only have 3, 1/8 shaft bits left, but 30 of the 1/16" shaft bits so I want to use them up. I got rid of my Hightower inlay machine a while back, which is what used them, as I like this pantograph better and want to use them on it.

Just make a split sleeve that fits your current collet to fit a 1/16 bit. You can use brass or even a small piece of delrin.

Thats probably what I will do, I was hoping someone made one to fit though.

I have a collet chuck that fits My porter, and has 3 different collets, one of them looks like It would fit a 1/16 bit, but it wasn't very expensive, and I have tried it out yet, so I have no Idea how true it runs, It could have more run out then It's worth for all I know, but maybe someone makes a better version. I also can't remember where I got It from. probably even ebay or somewhere that sells import stuff. Wish I could be of help.

Those are called collet pin chucks. They usually run out a few thousandths, but other than that they work fine. They also work well in the tailstock for holding tiny drill bits.
