1-handed pool tournament ??

After reading this story on how 250 competitors from 33 countries competed in Rubik's Cube world championship. I'm thinking we need a gaff game for pool tournaments.

I am thinking a 1-handed 8-ball tournament. maybe make it Fast 8. Ya'know the game with 4 solids, 4 stripes and the 8. Say race to 2.

Do you think it would work ?


"More than 250 competitors from 33 countries took part in the event, the first to be held in Hungary ? where the game was invented by Erno Rubik in 1974 ? since competition began in 1982.

Rubik, an engineer who developed several other mechanical games after the cube, made a rare public appearance at the medal ceremony, helping to hand out the main awards.

"I'm glad the cube is reaching new generations, who face it with fresh wonder, curiosity and enthusiasm," the game's creator said.

Other competitors showed their skill by solving the cube blindfolded, with one hand or with their feet.

Finland's Anssi Vanhala, 15, was fastest with his feet at 49.33 seconds."

Maybe I just need to go back to sleep. It's way too early in the morning.

Hey mister, I'll bet you $500 I can solve the Rubik cube with my feet before you can make all 15 balls on that table!!!

Now what Pool player wouldn't take that bet????? :D
 
At my hall's one pocket tourn, there's always these 2 guys that come down from Indiana that play one handed. they play pretty damn good too. I have no idea why some people choose to play one handed, interesting though.

There are a lot of guys around that play pretty sporty one handed. If you're gonna do it, play full rack, race to 2 or even 3. You may get surprised, especially if you're talking using the rail. If it's jacked up, {cue is not allowed to touch the rail} you still may get surprised. Try a few mini's at some of the tour events, and see what happens. Make em' short and cheap, like $10 or $20 entry to start and build it up.
 
BRING IT ON! I'd love to get some money from these pros and shortstops around here...

I think a one handed 9 ball event would do well. Races to 3 or 4. I would play and I know a lot of others that would too. Race to 2 would be too short.

I think 8 ball would be a better one handed game. Too many misses to let the 9 ball win. You talking air pool or use the rails also?

I thought we already had gaff pool games with 7-Ball, Speed Pool, Texas Hold-Em, Skins, yada....yada :cool:
