I'll pass. Race to 120 over three nights is just dumb and unnecessary. For 10 ball it should be more like 90. Nights will go way too late and my old ass will be in bed getting ready to go to work the next morning.

God bless the people who buy and support, but these long races have never been for me.

Hope they put on a good show for everyone who tunes in.

I'm going to be out of town visiting family so I won't be purchasing. If I was around it would be a maybe for me. Not a huge fan of a race this long but am curious how they'll match up and I do think the length of the race may give SVB an edge. Like and really enjoy watching both of them play...so if I were around and not busy for the weekend I probably would pay for it even though I don't love the format.

Work? I thought this site was for pool players.

Here's my prediction: SVB will start steamrolling and we'll see Gorst, for the first time, give up and fold. It's going to be a bloodbath. 120-92.

Pool goes nowhere because it's not offering what most people want.

If the match was a race to 25, more people would buy the stream.

If you set up a match and had 50k bet on it would you set it up for what the people wanted to see or what gave you the best chance of winning?

This is the way. It's not really entertainment for fans. It's entertainment for the participants.
I would watch the last 10-15 racks.
239 possible games.... absolutely not. Rather be doing literally anything else.

Think about what's actually popular these todays, especially with the youth.

Things like TikTok and 30 second reels. People (especially the youth) don't have the attention span to watch a race to 120.

If it's the players/backers putting up the money, then they obviously can make the races however long they want.

What would be ideal is if MR got into the exhibition game, and created something akin to TAR. They could select 2 players to play a race to 25. Get Karl or JJ to do commentary and player interviews before the match. Put up $20k, with $15k to the winner and $5k to the loser.

Logistically they could do it right before or right after any of their majors.

if you were a PPV streamer would you rather have 3-4 days of $$ or 1 day?

If you’re a ppv streamer you have to stream whatever the players agree to play or you have the option not to stream it at all. Idk if the streamers have any say in the way a match is constructed.

IMHO the wants of pool fans and money generated from the stream are not the priority of the two players for this particular match. Even amongst other pros, these are two alpha players with something to prove. To themselves, to each other, and to the other top contenders. A few races to 21 don't prove anything or mean much to these two guys. Any player can catch a gear for a few hours a day for a few days. It takes a whole different set of skills and conditioning to perform at an elite level eight to twelve hours at a time for multiple days. They have to dig really deep and you get to see just what they are really made of and what makes them who they are. This isn't some gimmick match to generate clicks and sales. There are two sides with a lot of real money involved and two players who have a history of not being afraid to bet their own. After attending a few big money marathon matches in person, I have a different kind of respect for the players who can endure them and fade the swings of the match, often leading to some of the most beautiful pool that can be played. It's one thing to survive a six day tournament with a match or two every day, it's a completely different animal to be in the pit with one of the best in the world firing at you for hours and hours on end. There are plenty of open tournaments to attract the masses and match room is doing a great job growing the game , but this is just a different setting. Personally I love these long races. There are plenty of players capable of playing near perfect pool for a little while. These matches are the true test of what a player is made of.
