10-ball on the break

As part of an effort to improve the playing conditions, I brought in a whole bunch of new racks for a weekly Friday night tournament.

During the tournament, I heard positive comments about my efforts to improve conditions; putting new spots on the table, cleaning the ballsets, new racks, plenty of chalk, plastic bridges. A few players commented on getting the 10-ball in on the break. The format is rack your own. I thought it was harder to get the 10-ball on the break than in 9-ball?

Most 10 ball tourneys don't count 10 ball on break. It's usually just spotted. At least in the tourneys I've played in.

in some ways it's easier to make the 10 on the break than in 9 ball. just depends on the racker/racking.

Where is a Friday night 10ball tournament?

btw, yes, 10ball can be made on the break the same way you rack 9ball to make it on the break. Gotta freeze the balls behind the 9ball/10ball.

It's harder and I believe that is general consensus. However, as Posmaniac stated, it's spotted in most tournaments to take the luck factor out of making the 10 on the break.

I play in a 10-ball league that scores points on individual performance and after around 7500+ racks of 10-ball, there has been less than 200 10-ball breaks (we keep various stats). So that's less than 3% chance of a 10-ball break based on our league numbers and I guarantee that 9-ball breaks would be double or triple that value.

I have found with my Magic Rack that the 10-ball stays put unless a ball comes back and caroms into it.
