Hell...sometimes I forget my last name.
I played him in New Orleans at the SPORT PALACE in the early 70's.
He had long black hair with about a lb of greasy crap in it.

100 Ball Blackie was also real. He was not NY Blackie (who was Al Bonife). I dont know know 100 ball's real name but I heard a lot about him. He was one of the top players in NY in the 50s and 60s.
Jerry Orbach spent a little time playing cheap with us down in Bensingers in the 60s while he was appearing in the play Man of La Manchia. I could play him 8 to 4.

Blackie lived out his playing days at Cochrun's in San Francisco. He played very respectfully until his late eighties when he finally passed. He most certainly wasn't Al "New York Blackie" Bonife.
Every month 100 Ball Blackie would get his check, pay his rent and then take what was left to the pool room where you could make a game with him. We used to kid him by calling him "10 Ball Blackie" ,which he didn't mind. Top players could play him about 9 to 5 at One Pocket.
