105 year old Meucci actually. It could have been worse though. He could've put a $50,000 reserve on it and claimed it was the cue De Oro used to beat Keough at the Concert Hall in Buffalo, NY - almost a decade before Keough invented Straight Pool.

Is it me or does the shaft look like its seen a hundred years of warpage. I bet it flops around like a fish out of water. Wait that sounds like a old valley house cue.

Wow is all i can say. The provenance mentioned is amazing. i messaged the seller and he said he even had a Polaroid of Methuselah holding this cue.

I messaged the guy and told him Meucci had only been around for 35 years, and Bob was not that old...he is still alive and kicking, so he could not have been around 105 years ago. The guy said that he had no reason to doubt the 80 year old man's word who gave him the cue, and that he had personally been playing with the cue for over 50 years. I told him that, based on the experience of being an old man myself, sometimes old men get confused and forget things.

I told him that if he had been playing with the cue for over 50 years, the only thing I could guarantee him 100% was that it was NOT a Meucci.

I also told him that, even if it was one of the early 35 year old Meucci cues, it was only worth $150-200...that got his attention. Then, he said that maybe someone else made the cue.

His first response (when I told him Meucci had only been around for 35 years or so):
I CAN ONLY GO BY WHAT I WAS TOLD BY THE OLD MAN WHO HAD IT BEFORE ME . AS TO THE AGE I CAN SEE NO REASON TO DISBELEVE WHAT I WAS TOLD THE OLD MAN TAUGHT ME TO PLAY STARTING WHEN I WAS ABOUT 10 I'M NOW 64 BEEN USEING THIS STICK THE WHOLE 50+ YRS. OLD MAN WEEDEN TOLD ME IT WAS GIVEN HIM WHEN HE WAS 8; HE WAS ABOUT 65 OR SO WHEN HE STARTED TEACHING ME.AS TO THE CUE IT SELF IF MY SHOULDERS WOULD LET ME STILL PLAY & KNOWING THE CUE AS I DO I'D PAY $200+ FOR ANOTHER AS GOOD .I'VE PLAYED EVERYTHING FROM 9 BALL TOSNOOKER & 3 CUSHION AND WISH I STILL HAD ALL THE MONEY I WON ME OVER THE YEARS! HT JOINT IS STILL TIGHT AS IT EVER WAS & THE STICK STREIGHT AS ANY NEW CUE OF ANY KIND YOU CAN BUY.
HOPEFULLY I'LL HAVE SOME MORE PICS. LATER TONIGHT IF MY FRIEND CAN COME OVER,I'M NOT VERY GOOD WITH THIS COMPUTER STUFF OR EBAY FOR THAT MATTER.
THANKS FOR YOUR COMENTS;
BOB

His second response (after I told him a Meucci was not worth much):
I HOPE YOU MAY BE CORRECT THAT IT'S WORTH MORE THAN AN EARLY MEUCCI;I DO KNOW IT TO BE WELL OVER THE 75YR. AGE. MY POOL MENTOR HAD NO REASON TO LIE ABOUT THAT; AND BY THE WAY HE WAS NOT THE PERSON WHO TOLD ME IT WAS A MEUCCI.IT WAS THE OWNER OF THE POOL HALL NAME OF JOHNNY TONA WHO BACK THEN WAS A WORLD CLASS PLAYER HIMSELF. NO IDEA IF HE EVER PLAYED PRO;BUT I DO KNOW HE PLAYED AGINST SOME PROS WHO CAME TO HUNTSVILLE TO CHALLENGE HIM & FOR EXIBITIONS.I MYSELF ONCE PLAYED AN EXIBITION WITH WILLIE MOSCONI BACK IN THE 60'S IN PHILLY;LOST MY BUTT! HE WAS SOME MORE FANTASTIC PLAYER EVEN THEN;BEAT ME AT STREIGHT 300
TO 125.
MUCH THANKS;
BOB
